We have a team of therapists who have years of experience working with children through adults. Our therapists are skilled at using varying approaches. Art and mindfulness practices are sometimes useful, especially in areas of reducing anxiety related issues. We have had many years of experience as a school counselors/inpatient therapists and are easily able to bridge the home/school therapeutic continuum. I have recently added to our team due to overwhelming demand. For in person work, we have an inviting office including a Play/Art room.

Caring people feel emotions more intensely. Whether its paralyzing anxiety, the continual cloud of depression or heartbreaking loss your daily struggle is valid. You may find making decisions about your relationships, career/college path, or everyday life extremely difficult. Earlier trauma only complicates the emotional pain and attempts to cope. You deserve to feel understood, listened to, and worthy while healing, building healthy coping skills, regaining positivity and confidence. Therapy is a trusting, respectful, nonjudgemental path forward for yourself. Caring people deserve a compassionate therapist.

Understanding that we do not live in a bubble and that many things can affect our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors is the basis of how I approach therapy. Instead of focusing on the problem, my focus in therapy is on the strengths of a family, couple, or individual, which can lead to a solution-focused collaboration between the therapist and client(s). As a therapist, it is my responsibility to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to begin the process of change that will eventually lead them to more complete, happier lives.

I have experience with Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral strategies, and Mindfulness-based interventions.
My approach to therapy is based on the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy perspective, which focuses on the automatic thoughts one is having about oneself, others, or the world while addressing unwanted behavior patterns. I will facilitate conversation to work alongside you in your therapeutic journey, and I use reframing of negative thoughts, homework assignments, and genuine empathy. I earned a Master's of Social Work and a Bachelor's of Social Work from Wayne State University.

My therapeutic approach blends compassion and mindfulness with various evidence-based therapies.
How are you…really? Maybe you can’t recall the last time someone genuinely asked, or perhaps the question caught you off guard, leaving you unsure of how to respond. Either way, lately, you haven’t been feeling like your usual self—as if you’re shedding old skin and evolving into a new version of yourself. If you find yourself nodding along to this, know that I am here to support you as you venture into uncharted territory.

Working towards wholeness and happiness, I encourage patients to engage in mindfulness, learning and creative processing to achieve their goals. Therapy is often called a helping profession but I like to think of it as a place of healing. I believe I can offer a safe, respectful and welcoming environment where you can find healing.

With warmth and a deep trust in the inner healing intelligence inside each person, I offer a holistic approach to therapy where I blend psychodynamic, somatic, relational, mindfulness-based and trauma-informed approaches to healing.
I am here to support you in developing a more connected, authentic, and caring relationship with yourself, which can then open a doorway to connecting more intimately with others and to living a fuller, richer life. This collaborative process involves bringing curiosity and presence to any patterns, beliefs, or parts of the self that may be holding pain from the past and preventing you from experiencing the healing you desire. This journey also involves connecting with the felt sense and listening together for what wants to be seen, understood, and expressed.

Mindfulness techniques can help to stay in the present and stay grounded and not feel so anxious about what the future holds.
I probably don’t need to tell you we’re living in a racist, sexist, heteronormative, capitalist dystopian nightmare in a slow and painful collapse. It’s hard to cope with that knowledge while dealing with day-to-day nonsense, on top of reliving past trauma on a regular basis. It’s a lot and it’s heavy and it sucks. Some people turn to substances and other vices to cope.

I have gained valuable experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing various issues such as; anxiety, , grief, depression, trauma, identity issues, self-esteem issues, stress management, mindfulness and mood issues.
Therapy should be a safe space for people to emote and talk freely. That is what I strive to do in each of my sessions. I try my best to establish and progress toward client goals with them in a collaborative manner.

I help people understand the use of mindfulness, which provides peace even in uncontrollable situations such as loss or impending death.
For 30+ years I have worked with people struggling with depression, anxiety, marital, family, child, career/work, military and trauma issues. I help them better understand themselves, those around them and how they can get the outcomes they want. People who talk to me feel understood and respected. They get practical direction that makes sense and gets results. I help people find the words to express what is confusing or difficult and to identify the steps needed to get the outcomes they want. I help them gain confidence and identify the inner resources needed for relief and success.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists

How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
