We will tackle anxiety, depression, grief, mood changes, anger, boundaries & more together.
Did you know most therapists have their own therapist? This is important to know because I want to help destigmatize receiving mental health treatment. What may look like today's standards as a “perfect” life from the outside, could actually have imperfections of their own. Life's daily stressors are enough to handle on your own, now add in grief, trauma, life changing events, anxiety, depression, & more.

Challenges that we can address together include symptoms related to anxiety, depression, grief, stress, unhealthy or abusive relationships, and various forms of trauma.
Currently accepting new telehealth clients! I first learned that I wanted to become a therapist after receiving therapy for myself in order to process a history of traumatic experiences and grief. I share this confidently, because no one should feel alone or ashamed to seek support. I truly love the work that I do and I believe in making therapy a comforting, safe, and validating place for my clients. We will especially be a great fit for therapy if you are looking to heal your sense of safety, trust, control, and self-esteem!

I am a Master of Social Work graduate from Michigan State University certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and have experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and attachment concerns.
I know life does not always go as planned. Sometimes we need to talk to someone. When we need help with our physical bodies, we see a medical doctor. When our mind and heart hurt and we need help untangling our thoughts and feelings, we find a therapist. I am here with you as we find sources of pain, learn skills to help, and build a life worth living.

Therapy is hard and it sometimes sucks. I will never make promises like you can "be fixed" or you'll "never have to deal with this again". Those are bold face lies. We've been through so much and these inner and outer demons are figuring their way out of those boxes we put them in. Sometimes the demons gotta come out and we have to dispose of them properly. That "properly" is going to look different for everyone, but We can help you feel better. We can help you manage those moods, emotions and even the outbursts. You have to be ready for the work. When you're ready, come see me and we'll start that journey together.

I work with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, and life changes. Most importantly, I work with you as a whole-person and strive to address all of the factors impacting your wellbeing. Finding the balance between easing symptoms and developing a more meaningful life is a hallmark of my approach. Often, it can be difficult to open-up and feel vulnerable; I do my best to help you feel comfortable expressing yourself. Many of my client's describe me as gentle and easy to talk to. Out of anything I can offer as a therapist, I believe this is the most important.

Art therapy is a mental health profession in which clients use art media along with the creative process to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior, reduce anxiety, develop social skills, and increase self-esteem.
I believe therapy is a mutual process between the client and the therapist. The therapeutic relationship is built on trust and respect. My goal is not to "fix" someone's problems; but to offer my clients the tools to foster growth and change within themselves and their own life through the exploration of techniques, self reflection and various art mediums.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
