I have extensive experience with anxiety/depression/panic disorder.
Life will undoubtedly throw obstacles in our path, often when we least expect it, but we can ultimately choose how we face those challenges. You do not have to go through your struggles alone. Therapy is a team effort. It's us working together on a journey toward healing and finding your inner strength; understanding any issues you're facing fully so that you can overcome them. We will work to achieve goals that you might have in order to get you back on track and onto the right path.

I have helped individuals find answers, face their fears and confront emotional challenges for the past 30 years, I would be honored to help you to do the same.
Life can be difficult and sometimes we are faced with situations that we just can't handle on our own. Therapy provides an opportunity for individuals to explore and understand their challenges while also empowering them to heal and find strength. I can help you on your journey as you navigate through the challenges, trials and undeserving times. I often tell people "it takes a strong person to enter therapy." I hope that you can find the courage to make a positive decision and reach out to get started today.

Recognizing triggers, negative automatic thoughts, and beliefs that interfere with your quality or functioning in life are the goals in interpersonal sessions. These are the first steps in changing maladaptive behavior that may help reduce anxiety, improve self-confidence & self-worth. I utilize several modalities with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my primary intervention-based therapy.

When you’re experiencing ongoing stress and exhaustion, your body starts to say “hey, take care of me” in many subtle ways. Oftentimes, we worry taking care of ourselves would be a loss of connection elsewhere. The truth is, repressed trauma, anxiety, depression, and/or other emotions can build tension within your life. In my practice, I help you process your current experiences and find the tools to support your mental health. As a trauma-aware therapist, I am confident to work alongside your journey! We will focus on a healing-perspective and keep your hopes for what you would like to achieve as our goal.

Reaching out, asking for help, it's hard. When the feelings become to overwhelming: sadness, exhaustion, burn out, anxiety- you don't have to go through it alone. I will provide a safe place, without judgement, to work through where to go next. Together we will work to develop and implement goals based on both individual wants and needs. Throughout our sessions I will adapt to the role that will be most beneficial to the person I am working with- for some that might focus on listening and processing for others it might focus on skill building. Regardless, your sessions will be for you.

I have experience working with issues related to depression, anxiety, adjustment concerns, family and interpersonal relationship difficulties, life transition issues, and issues of childhood.
I believe that therapy is a cooperative process that requires a strong, safe, trusting relationship between a client and a therapist. I provide a warm, comfortable, and accepting environment in which one can explore a wide range of issues and concerns without the fear of judgment or reproach. I believe that therapy is an important tool for lasting change and, to be most helpful, it should be tailored to a client's individual needs. The ideal client is one who is interested in self-exploration, the possibility of change, and the time neccessary to achieve both.

There are times in our lives when we all need special support. It may be due to a crisis--a major loss, a critical incident, a communication breakdown. Or, it may be more an experience in our everyday life--too much stress, a loss of focus or direction, a sense of being unfulfilled. No matter if the cause is extraordinary or ordinary, the result is that we sense that we have tapped out our own resources. It is time to reach out and find someone who has the insight and experience to offer guidance and support.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
