I see clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, Substance Abuse, physical and emotional trauma, mood and personality disorders, ADHD, grief and self harm along with suicidal ideations and many other life changes.
As a psychotherapist I have worked with students of all ages, grades 6-12 for quite some time and I have broadened my horizons to provide support to adults who seek change and stability in their lives. My only goal is to provide my clients a safe haven, a place where they can feel comfortable enough to disclose their personal issues. Therapy is a place where my clients can trust me enough to provide them with the courage, guidance, and support they need to begin to learn how to battle their struggles with ease.

As a therapist, I consider it an honor and privilege to walk alongside my clients through their journey of healing and search for wholeness. Our minds and bodies carry our lived experiences and they have so much to say that needs processing in order to feel safe and secure. In working with what your mind and body are saying, as well as listening with curiosity and compassion, I hope to help you find peace and safety within yourself. This process will help encourage your true self to come alive and feel free to navigate the world in a way that is best for you.

Do you feel like you are carrying struggles others could not possibly understand? You feel anxious, depressed, unheard, misunderstood, and tired. Tired of waiting for change and for life to feel meaningful again. Tired of past trauma that continues to resurface in unexpected ways. Perhaps you are struggling with parenting, blended families or step-parenting, causing emotional unrest and uncertainty. Perhaps you are an athlete dealing with the pressure and struggles of your craft, or maybe you are dealing with relationship issues in your life. Maybe you just simply need someone to be there for you.

Firstly, thank you for considering the opportunity to share your story with me. I understand that life can be filled with joyful moments mixed often with difficult and complicated events. Often these difficult times will pass and life with get back to the type of "normal" we consider our lives to be. Other times we exhaust our safest resources, but life still seems a bit off. You feel off. If this is your first time seeking counseling, then I welcome your call and promise to meet you at a level that is comfortable and safe in a confidential setting.

Are you struggling with relationship issues? Are they causing you anxiety, depression, Low self-esteem, or negative physical symptoms? Do you want more positive relationships that are satisfying and life affirming? So often we get caught up in unhealthy communication with loved ones and others. We can easily be put on the defensive in our conversations when someone is angry or aggressive toward what we say or do, we may feel ignored or put down all together. Having positive relationships starts with learning how to communicate assertively and effectively to get our point across while listening intently to what others need in return.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?

Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?

The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
