Using your body's own natural healing process, I use Run Therapy, EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, play-based techniques, and Somatic Experiencing to help you rewrite your story in a way that empowers you and your family to meet your goals, build resilience, and live well.
Life is harder than you ever imagined it would be. Whether it's your painful past that keeps showing up in your present, difficulty in completing tasks and staying focus, or the anxiety and stress from things that are out of your control, you just can't find your way out of the struggle. Maybe it's your child or teenager who is struggling and needs someone else to help them find their joy and peace. A positive change is possible. Hope can be realized and joy can be a regular part of your life again.

Together, we will connect you to your body and explore your authentic self through EMDR, somatic therapy, parts work, and strengths-based therapy.
Are you struggling with trauma? You might feel anxious, disconnected from your body, feeling the need to constantly distract yourself, or not feeling like yourself. This may be in response to a bigger life event, loss, life transitions, or something you’ve been unable to access. Sometimes, our responses are connected to childhood trauma, religious trauma, work trauma, or from past relationships. You may also question if your responses are connected to trauma at all. You want to live a life where it feels good to be present with yourself and in relationships. Where you can be authentically yourself.

I use a combination of traditional psychotherapy, somatic techniques and hypnotherapy to allow you to experience the deep transformation you are seeking in your life.
Flipping through the latest Netflix releases, you search endlessly for your next "binge-worthy" series to numb you out for the rest of the weekend. This has been your default for far too long. You know all of the things you are “supposed” to be doing. You’ve tried all the self-help tricks, but you feel stuck in your head and unable to move forward in your life. You’ve had glimmers of the life you want before, but it always seems just out of reach.

I use mainly EMDR, somatic, and emotion-focused treatment modalities.
The deepest goal of counseling is learning about yourself by teaching me about you. This idea can be daunting. You might be asking yourself, “What will I learn? Am I ready? What will this journey be like?” Sometimes starting the process is the hardest part! The beauty of counseling is that the journey doesn’t have to be taken alone. When you find a therapist that fits well, it can feel less like stumbling through a dark forest and more like forging a path of your own. No matter what brings you to therapy, feeling empowered, safe, and understood through the process can make all the difference in the world.

During somatic therapy, we don't just talk or think about change, you truly feel it, because we address your nervous system directly through concrete experiential exercises.
I believe the ability to heal already exists in you, waiting to be uncovered from beneath past protective patterns that no longer serve you. Maybe you're successful & functioning on the outside, but inside you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected. Your mind overthinks & your body is tense. From past trauma or current stress, part of you feels broken, not enough, unworthy, or unlovable. You already know this shame, but aren't aware of other parts of you. Those that know how to rest, relax, self-care, balance emotions, & love yourself. You hope you can befriend your own mind, body, & spirit as allies instead of enemies.

In my work, I use somatic parts work, a compassion-centered, bottom-up approach to healing.
I am here to support individuals from all walks of life, including diverse backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations. My focus is particularly on trauma, men, and male-identified adults navigating with issues related to masculinity. Trauma affects our sense of safety, self, and our ability to manage emotions and relationships. It can come from painful experiences or from the absence of essential positive experiences, like warmth and acceptance. To cope with trauma, we might disconnect from parts of ourselves and adapt in ways that help us survive, but this can also create a sense of distance from who we truly are.

I understand the importance of treating the whole person, and have additional training in Somatic Experiencing, a body-focused trauma healing approach.
Are you weary of feeling consistently 'stuck' in the fast lane, wondering if your body and mind can remember what it is like to slow down and rest? Or maybe you're feeling shut down and it takes effort to do the bare minimum? Struggling to feel connection in your close relationships, or wondering how to move forward in a partnership or marriage that feels stagnant? I value the opportunity to create an environment where you can breathe, connect with safety in mind and body, and engage in a therapeutic relationship as you journey toward greater self-discovery and freedom.

Additionally, my understanding of the anatomical body allows me to incorporate somatic (body-based) interventions when they align with the client's needs.
I believe in the transformative power of understanding one's emotional responses to create lasting and meaningful change. I hope to provide my clients with a foundation of knowledge to help them understand the mechanisms behind their responses and how, with time and intention, they can be changed. I pride myself on my communication skills and seek to provide objective and relatable feedback that people find easy to understand and implement. Because of this, I find I work well with those who value learning as a catalyst for change. My specialized training focuses on supporting those with anxiety, dissociation, and PTSD.

As a Somatic Experiencing Therapist (body-based trauma work) I support clients through the trauma events of their lives.
Most of us have seasons of distress or relational stress in which we need new perspectives and support. Sometimes old hurts play into the immediate conflict. We may try to work everything out on our own, but often that is just not happening or not even possible. That is where talk therapy comes in. It is all about support for the present and hope for the future as clients deconstruct and reconstruct the pieces of their story. The renewal and redemption of that story is very often a key to successful therapy.

I have training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) which provides me with a somatic (body) framework for working with anxiety and emotions.
Do you find yourself longing for a deeper connection with yourself and others? You want close relationships and yet these very relationships become a source of pain? Many people find their way to therapy feeling lost, confused, and alone. For me, a most valuable aspect of therapy is connecting with a caring other and being able to undo the loneliness that one feels in their experience. Feeling connected in therapy allows individuals to access important core emotions and gain a deeper sense of themselves. My goal is that people leave therapy with a renewed sense of vitality and a coherent narrative of who they are.

I truly care about my clients and will provide a confidential, empathic, and non-judgmental environment. My ideal client might be in distress and simply in need of relief or someone who wants to investigate themselves and grow through the process. My ideal client might not be sure if therapy will help. I would try a variety of strategies to show you that it can. I have had challenges in life and I have received help from many people along the way. I believe that we should receive help when we need it and help others when we are able to do so. I look forward to collaborating in our work together!

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
