I enjoy working with a variety of issues: including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, self harm, eating disorders, and suicidality. I also love the tough cases; the cases others are afraid to touch. You AREN’T too much for me. You won’t freak me out or scare me off. I like leaning into "all of it" and dissecting ways to better approach life’s challenges. Sometimes we just need to know that we are going to be alright. And other times, we might just need someone to share the silence. Regardless of the issues, we will figure this out together.

I thoroughly enjoy helping clients to be authentically themselves within a safe and comfortable space. Each person is unique in their own way, and because of this they may need a unique approach in therapy. I look at the therapeutic relationship as a team, we can collaborate together to work on any issues that may be troublesome. Transparency is an important part of the therapeutic relationship, and I encourage it on both sides in order to create a non-judgmental space.

Everyone wishes to be happy. However, personal struggles frequently interfere with the quality of life we crave. Those barriers frequently are characterized by poor social skills, emotional disorders, inability to cope with adversity and frustration, inadequate life planning, self-destructive behaviors and poor judgment when making decisions. However, the worst form of thinking is when someone gives up and believes they can't change their life. But when people can combine their hopes and efforts through the guidance of an experienced therapist, they begin writing their own success story by which they acquire that quality of life that is so precious, meaningful and satisfying.

It's normal to have problems. It's normal for relationships to have conflict. It's normal to feel nervous on occasion. It's normal to fall into a low mood now and then. But sometimes these normal things get out of hand. And sometimes you have to live through something that isn't normal, something unexpected. In times like that, it's useful to have somebody to talk to.

Life’s challenges can often wear us down, particularly when they affect our relationships, draining the affection and love we have for those we care about most. I am committed to helping others overcome the obstacles that prevent them from enjoying the life and relationships they seek. My counseling style is personal, warm, and supportive. I understand that discussing deep issues with a stranger can be intimidating, which is why I strive to create a friendly, non-judgmental space where individuals can talk openly about their lives and work on their issues.

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.
Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.
Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
