I work with individuals from all walks of life dealing with depression, anxiety, life changes and adjustments, family and relationship issues, existential and identity crises, anger and emotional issues and and various other areas of mental health.

My philosophy is that curiosity is what life is about. I am constantly curious about life and about my clients. I strive to learn as much as I can so I can work together with clients to help them better their lives and reach their goals. I try to pull from many therapeutic models, using what works best for the client. I truly believe that with open eyes and a kind heart, I can meet the client where they are and help bring them to where they want to be.

Life’s challenges can often wear us down, particularly when they affect our relationships, draining the affection and love we have for those we care about most. I am committed to helping others overcome the obstacles that prevent them from enjoying the life and relationships they seek. My counseling style is personal, warm, and supportive. I understand that discussing deep issues with a str anger can be intimidating, which is why I strive to create a friendly, non-judgmental space where individuals can talk openly about their lives and work on their issues.

I have a strong interest in helping people who feel stuck, who want a more fulfilling life, however find themselves helplessly repeating similar patterns. Painful feelings of frustration, anxiety, sadness, fear, and loneliness are familiar emotions you may experience as a result. I emphasize a deep exploration of one's self, which can lead to changes in one's life along with an increased sense of vitality. By creating a therapeutic relationship and exploring it, over time, we can begin to recognize and understand your patterns of interactions, thoughts, and responses that interfere in your daily life and within your relationships.

Happiness can be difficult to achieve. Many times, we are in situations in which we need to make changes in our lives to promote mental wellness. Making changes in our lives can feel difficult and complicated. We can feel stuck at certain times of our lives, realizing we've been avoiding chronic problems, or needing to make changes in relationships. If we don't use these opportunities for self reflection and change, we can find ourselves with increased depression and anxiety. I really like to work with clients that are working through their stuck points and help them make changes to improve their quality of life.

How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
