Hi! I am a fully licensed therapist and I enjoy providing therapy for teens and adults. I offer a laid back and casual vibe to therapy, where you can be comfortable. I often see people who are overwhelmed with life stress, have trouble communicating, or are trying to cope with anxiety and depression, trauma, school issues, PTSD, relationship problems, family struggles, grief, or parenting problems. As a therapist I help clients change patterns, take ownership of their path to healing, and identify core negative beliefs. Thanks for reading... and don't hesitate to reach out if you're looking to feel more like yourself again!

I work with individuals including teens, adults and older adults who have concerns regarding depression, anxiety, grief/ loss, self acceptance, parenting challenges, relationship issues, and substance use.
There’s nothing more important to the therapeutic process than establishing a strong relationship between counselor and client. Through a collaborative effort, I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients of any and all backgrounds feel comfortable to tell their stories, and I provide supportive acceptance in a positive environment. Through the therapeutic process I use a variety of modalities, which allow for gentle directive and reflective approaches designed to empower clients, leading to the promotion of growth and healing.

I believe in the power of change, acceptance, and growth when individuals are provided with the necessary resources, support, and tools. I have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Before joining the Integrated Behavioral Health team, I worked as an inpatient social worker at the Veteran Affairs Hospital and then as a therapist in a private practice setting. I use a holistic approach to create an optimal environment for clients to express their thoughts and feelings and effectively tackle the challenges they may be facing.

Happiness can be difficult to achieve. Many times, we are in situations in which we need to make changes in our lives to promote mental wellness. Making changes in our lives can feel difficult and complicated. We can feel stuck at certain times of our lives, realizing we've been avoiding chronic problems, or needing to make changes in relationships. If we don't use these opportunities for self reflection and change, we can find ourselves with increased depression and anxiety. I really like to work with clients that are working through their stuck points and help them make changes to improve their quality of life.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
