I enjoy working with clients undergoing life transitions (college, career, relationship changes). Often my clients are wanting help navigating identity, relationships, career decisions, and want more insight and support. Many are neurodivergent and identify as LGBTQIA+. I enjoy working with clients who are wanting to find a sense of identity and purpose. I specifically have an interest helping with clients who are navigating executive functioning disorders (such as ADHD), relationship stressors, workplace burnout, college adjustment, or identify as LGBTQ+.

Hi! I am happy that you're here. Self improvement is hard work but you don’t have to do it alone. If you're feeling bothered or hopeless by things that you have no control over and are struggling with acceptance, or if you’re feeling depressed or anxious, I am here to help. Dealing with any degree of mental health struggle causes trauma to our brains and bodies. That is why I always encourage and model self compassion and understanding, and why I encourage my clients to challenge their core beliefs if they are hard on themselves. We are our own worst critics as the saying goes, but it doesn’t have to be.

As a therapist I work to create a safe, empathetic, judgment-free and welcoming space for you to process difficult experiences, life transitions and gain insight. While I have been a counselor for about 4 years, I have been working with trauma survivors and building on that knowledge for the past 10 years. My foundation as a therapist was built on advocacy work for survivors of sexual violence. I have also worked on several college campuses with students as they manage life transitions and stressors. I love working with adults in processing grief, loss and identity concerns.

Secular psychology has many models for helping people live psychologically and socially healthy lives. And while there is value in these approaches, they are at root secular and not founded upon a religious or spiritual understanding of reality. For some people, the spiritual or religious is central to who they are and how they live. These people are not comfortable with the secular notion that one can be fully healthy while ignoring God. As a Christian, who is trained in secular psychology and Christian theology, I offer as an option a Christian counseling approach that attempts to incorporate the best of both worlds.

As we age, I can't help but think that our lives may go off the path we originally intended. While life can be full of many positive changes and events, there may also be experiences in which one may develop feelings of shame, guilt, anxiety, and/or depression. It can be hard to recognize life isn't always 'perfect' and to determine how and where to give up control. My goal is to help you leap into the unknown, build more authenticity and awareness, and start living a life with more fulfillment.

***In-Person Appointments*** The most expensive kind of therapy is the kind that doesn't work. Maybe it feels scary to wonder if real healing can happen. I'm a Certified EMDR Therapist and I combine EMDR with IFS therapy to create an effective method that has worked for permanent healing time and again. Instead of feeling bad about certain parts of ourselves, I encourage people to instead get curious and compassionate toward these "parts of themselves" that are trying to keep them safe and help them by making them anxious, angry, or even depressed.(Sounds strange, right?) We slow things down and get to know you, one part at a time.

My passion is helping others find ways to manage their challenges in this ever-changing journey we call life. For over 27 years I have worked with adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families in a variety of settings; including home, school, office, and in the community. I pride myself in building therapeutic relationships with each individual I work with. By achieving this, I believe we can then work together to help identify what is challenging you currently to get you to the life you choose to live successfully.

I understand that starting the therapy process can be daunting. Finding the right person to meet with, knowing what you want to work on and finding a way to explain it to another person takes courage and determination. I hope to provide a safe and supportive environment for you to explore what is getting in your way and how to develop the tools for you to move forward.

My hope is to help create a space where you can express yourself authentically and without fear of shame or judgement. I understand how difficult it is to ask for help, and take the time needed to explore your own thoughts, feelings, and actions. My goal is to help you explore thinking patterns, and how they play into some of the emotional hurt and discomfort. I want to help build on your strengths, while moving towards a place of vulnerability.
