She is a CSAT & is trained in Somatic EMDR & EFT.
I know you're "fine, totally fine, absolutely fine"...but just in case you're a little "not fine", I'm here. Maybe you are here because people whom you’ve naturally turned to for care and protection have hurt or neglected you in some way. Or maybe you're here because you have found yourself unable to honor the commitments and promises that you have made to yourself; or those whom you love due to your addictive behaviors. It takes time to allow the reality behind our symptoms to reveal themselves. Treatment can help you feel more present in the moment, in control of your world, compassionate towards all of your parts, and safe.

I am a psychologist with over 25 years of experience helping others to navigate life's journey. I offer a judgment-free environment to overcome life's challenges and provide a haven for self-discovery. Through this process, my clients have recognized their ability to heal and gain a greater insight into self-empowerment. I specialize in overcoming trauma, parts therapy (IFS), relationships, anxiety, depression, and more with individuals/couples in coordination with their PCP when needed. I have found that how we perceive ourselves is our reality, and, together, we can expand that perspective.

Whatever brought you here, welcome. Often, people seek help because they have a sense that all is not well, even if they don’t have language to explain what they feel or why. I believe that honoring this knowing is one of the bravest things we can do and is an essential step in recovering a sense of well-being. I consider it a privilege to join with clients to explore the beliefs, hopes, fears, and struggles that are all part of what it means to be human. I draw from trauma-focused, relational, narrative, and mindfulness-based approaches, and prioritize creating a safe, compassionate, therapeutic relationship.

I enjoy working with clients undergoing life transitions (college, career, relationship changes). Often my clients are wanting help navigating identity, relationships, career decisions, and want more insight and support. Many are neurodivergent and identify as LGBTQIA+. And not getting these needs met in our lives and relationships makes life a lot more work. I want to help you make space for yourself to identify your needs. I bring a trauma-informed and trauma-focused lens and we will work together to help you build connections with yourself and others.

Navigating the world can be stressful and our stress responses can impact us on multiple levels. While trauma and stress may be ever-present, I invite you to consider what else is true. As a therapist, I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is trauma-informed AND resilience-informed, moving people from a place of despair to hope. I have experience working with those navigating anxiety, stress and burnout, grief, and trauma. Cultivating resilience helps build the capacity to hold the complexities of life, and integrating the mind and body allows one to respond intentionally and live more fully.

Are you feeling like it's time to better understand what your unsettling feelings are trying to tell you? It could be that these have been present since you were young, or maybe it's an entirely new experience. In either case, I'm glad you found your way here. You deserve to enjoy your days and I will work with you to help you manage any fear or worry by getting to the heart of what is leading you to feel a lack of calm confidence. Maybe you already know the source but simply need to talk about it so that it doesn't have as much control over you. Either way, it's time for a new approach to dealing with this!

I take a collaborative approach with clients that includes transparency, experiential techniques, attachment theory, somatic work (mind & body), trauma, and narrative/story work.
Have you ever noticed yourself feeling "stuck" in your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors? Do you experience an internal, exhausting, tug-of-war between your mind and body? This can feel overwhelming and lonely, leaving many people feeling powerless. This is a common feeling, one that I myself have experienced. Painful experiences, significant life changes, relationships, or past memories can begin to feel as though they have great power over us and the people we want to be. I am passionate about helping people name those thoughts, feelings, and memories in a safe relationship to begin the journey of healing and empowerment.

As a queer therapist, I am extremely passionate about caring for my community in the ways this career allows. I take pride in ensuring my sessions are a safe and supportive space, and I am part of the communities I serve. I am trauma informed, sex positive, kink knowledgeable and neurodivergent affirming. I meet every client where they are at and see them as a person, not a set of symptoms to be "solved" or "fixed". I embrace the fact that healing is non-linear (and often messy!), and encourage my clients to cultivate compassion for themselves and the varied journeys that have led them to my virtual space.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
