I take a strengths-based approach to therapy, using elements from ACT and positive psychology, and I believe in creative self-expression.
I work with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, and/or other life stressors. My clients want to become more aware of how their past experiences and current stressors are affecting their thoughts and behaviors. Their end goal is to develop a loving and compassionate relationship with themselves and to learn boundaries so that their relationships with others are supportive and healthy.

My goal is to create an environment of acceptance, empathy, encouragement, peace, and safety that fosters growth, healing, and strength.
My passion to serve others is a driving force in my work and life. I have worked in home health, family preservation, and the public school system at the elementary level working with children with IEPs. I believe it is important to approach the counseling process in a holistic manner; recognizing that each part of a person’s life impacts how they approach and view their circumstances. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strength-based approach, and Person-Centered therapy. I will tailor my treatment approach to the client's needs.

I consider myself an eclectic therapist that utilizes various therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT & IFS.
Grab a cup of coffee/tea and let’s talk! My goal is to create a safe and relaxing environment where you can be yourself. I do not believe that therapy must always be a stiff uncomfortable process. I am here to help you achieve your solutions and the life changes you are looking for while enjoying yourself and the process as much as possible. Asking for help is hard, but I hope you take a moment (and a deep refreshing breath) to call or email me to see how I can help you.

I've collected a variety of therapy approaches that allow me to help clients get unstuck from unhelpful patterns in their lives, including Narrative Therapy, ACT, Polyvagal Therapy, SE, HeartMath, and treatment for body image, binge eating, and body focused repetitive behaviors.
"Ego says, 'Once everything falls into place, I'll feel peace.' Spirit says, 'Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place.'" (Marianne Williamson). I believe that peace and quality of life is achieved by working in reverse. That is, going inward to rediscover the divinity that rests in you. My objective is to encourage clients to use their strengths and resources to recognize their inner wisdom, thus allowing them to become their authentic self. Working together, we can identify barriers to wellbeing, explore solutions that empower, and expand awareness.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
