It is my firm belief that everyone can benefit from therapy. The experience of having a kind and objective person to listen to your fears and challenges - a person who provides the space for you to be yourself - is powerful and healing.

I work well with people who are tired of making changes, just to find themselves repeating the same behaviors they thought they changed? And those who can't seem to find a therapist they feel comfortable talking openly to. change is not easy and takes persistence, failing means a person is trying. I use humor as an anesthesia, not to minimize someones pain but to take the sting out. one of the functions of humor is to address painful things.

You have been sitting with your thoughts and seem to recycle your memories. You are excellent at suppressing your hurt and stay busy with work and life as a distraction. You may no longer connect with others the way you used to and keep friends and family at a distance. The Pandemic may have increased your anxiety and depression and you are uncertain where to begin. Your worry and fear come out as: anger, sadness and controlling behaviors, due to questioning your worth and self esteem. Will I ever feel truly happy? Will I feel truly loved? Will I find my life path and the career that makes my soul soar? Will I learn to forgive?

The areas I specialize in include working with mood disorders, young adults, parenting support, various life transitions, and I am especially passionate about working with LGBTQIA+ individuals as a non-binary therapist (they/them), most especially with gender identity issues. I am also passionate about helping individuals going through infertility experiences, as my wife and I experienced this struggle firsthand before we had our child using IVF treatment. I love offering a compassionate approach to these sensitive subjects as individuals navigate their options and explore the complex emotions associated with infertility in therapy.

Improved emotional health supports our whole-body wellness. My joy in psychotherapy is to accompany people from places of distress to paths of relief, positive change, expanded self-worth, and deeper bonds with the people they love. Worry, anxiety, sadness, and relationship conflict can take a toll on our immune system, confidence, productivity and connection with others. I believe all people are born noble. We all have strengths and inner capacities for growth and healing. Healing is a process--sometimes it is a quick journey, in other instances it may take more time. Therapy can be an important part of that process.

Immediate openings! Sometimes we get caught up in the messiness of life and forget to enjoy it. I get it, life can be stressful! All of our feelings are normal, but sometimes we feel them more intense and they might even make our day to day lives extra challenging (anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low motivation, trauma… sound familiar?) You are deserving of a life you enjoy living and I am here to help you get back to your best, authentic self.

We all experience difficulty trying to navigate obstacles and absurdities in life. Soren Kierkegaard, a philosopher, articulated it well: “Life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forwards.” I believe therapy helps us process this difficult truth through a courageous practice of turning our focus inward and confronting the parts of ourselves that we are often intent on avoiding. It feels daunting to give attention to regrets, disappointments, or the suspicion that we are not living up to our own potential. Perhaps, the actual risk is our own realization of a need to change but feeling unsure of succeeding.

Whether dealing with the effects of trauma, a loss, struggling with anxiety or depression, or coping with a life transition, it can help to explore concerns in a safe and supportive environment. I believe that a therapist’s role is to be a listening ear, provide feedback, offer support, and provide resources as clients explore their concerns, identify solutions, and develop plans of action that best fit their chosen life journeys.

Do you struggle to connect with your life in a meaningful way? Has life become messy and overwhelming in a way that you didn't expect? Does it seem like you spend all of your time and energy taking care of others and have lost your path to personal happiness? Maybe you are the parent of neurodiverse child, caretaker of an aging parent, or just have a million responsibilities between work, family, and community. Maybe you are trying to do it all and are your own worst critic. Sometimes life throws a lot at us, and things don't go as expected.

I am here to guide, encourage and highlight what I see to help you come to clear solutions. My experience lies in working with individuals who are struggling with adjusting to life changes or balancing new roles/identities. Life is full of many challenges and we all need a community of support to navigate it. I want to be part of that community for you. During the course of our strenuous daily lives, it's often difficult to find time to devote to invest in yourself. Worse, when new demands arrive unexpectedly, it can feel like that time is the easiest thing to sacrifice. When we work together, in a safe, open, strength-based environment, that investment will be our only focus, free from competition by any other demand. You will guide your experience from beginning to end.
