Well-meaning people try to give us advice when we feel anxious, depressed, and overwhelmed. What we really need is validation that our feelings matter, that we have the right to feel how we feel. There could be parts of you that feel unheard or rejected. Maybe there are parts that are angry or that use unhealthy coping strategies to treat sadness or trauma.

In our work together, we will develop useful mindfulness and somatic practices that allow you to harness your own wellness.
I approach therapy believing that we need more than talk therapy to unlock our wellness and healing. We need to tune into our body! I use a combination of modalities to guide our work, namely tenets of somatic trauma healing and psychodynamic psychology. Together, we’ll work to deepen your understanding of self and the world around you by exploring your body as a shape, molded by a lifetime of your lived experiences. We’ll honor all parts of who you are, knowing that the "best" and "worst" versions of you both deserve dignity and care.

As a somatic, movement and trauma-informed psychotherapist with 20+ years of experience in the wellness industry, my therapeutic approach honors the deeply interconnected mind-body relationship.
Are you moving through life on autopilot? Is there a disconnect between what you know and what you do when it comes to taking care of yourself? I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to explore beyond what parts you show the world and get to know your true self. You deserve to live unshackled by pain so you can live joyously and authentically. Life is too short to be anxious, down all the time, or let traumas and hurtful experiences control us. Trauma makes us who we are not and the more you heal, the more you become your authentic self. I believe this is possible for you even if you don't know how to get there yet.

My role with clients is to be an observer, to transformation and change. Just as in metaphysics, having an observer changes the dynamics of the situation. In my role I don’t just observe but compassionately walk with those I work with and take a non-directive approach to what the individual perceives as precedent. Through mindfulness practices we aim to recenter the body, mind and felt sense of what the individual is processing. Through this somatic approach we emphasize the importance of feeling, what the mind is rationalizing. This may present itself as parts of us that come to light with observation and acknowledgement.

My background includes 30 years of private practice as a somatic psychotherapist.
After being a psychotherapist for 30 years, learning and growing on the journey, I now am passionate about supporting my clients to open to learning about all the aspects of themselves, dark and light, and bringing love and acceptance to it all. It is here that we find true happiness and purpose. Through awareness, we find our way to ceasing judgement and the eternal push to find happiness outside of ourselves.. And as we learn to be in the present moment, we develop valuable skills for self regulation and resilience, freeing us to live the life of our dreams.

Individual therapy, yoga therapy and somatic experiences can be helpful for individuals looking to navigate mood disorders, body dissatisfaction, stress, grief, and trauma.
Chronic illness, grief, disordered eating, trauma, can cause extreme shifts in our minds and bodies, resulting in a variety of behaviors to cope and “protect us.”Not all the responses support an authentic value based life experience, nor are sustainable solutions for the trauma experienced. If you feel like you need a change, or are tired of being tired, I can help! Utilizing evidence based interventions, we can rewire the nervous system, desensitize, reprocess experiences building resiliency, and shift behaviors more aligned with your needs. I look forward to helping establish, build or repair your unique foundation of healing.

By using mindfulness and somatic based practices, I work to help clients regulate the body's biological responses to trauma.
Connection and acceptance allow us to move through life with hope, dignity, and the ability to embrace our authentic selves. I use a range of therapeutic techniques that are responsive to client needs, but my core therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic practice. Humanistic psychology views people as innately good, unique, and capable of growth. We can work towards healing, change and growth while acknowledging the strengths you already have. A core value I have is making therapy accessible, and so I offer virtual cash fee sessions based on financial need with as little gatekeeping as possible.

I use tools from different modalities depending on the patient needs; IFS, Response and Exposure, CPT, DBT, CBT, ACT, Narrative, Behavioral, and Somatic.
I have limited availability. I see patients in the office Mondays and Tuesday- Waitlist. I see patients virtually on Wednesdays and Thursdays with 3 total spots open. I work with individuals who are 16 years or older who have experienced traumatic events and are feeling stuck. I have extensive training and experience working with those who suffer with PTSD/CPTSD, OCD and other anxiety/depressive related disorders. I use an integrative humanistic approach to therapy. Meaning I view my patients as a whole, not just what has/hasn't happened to them or as just their diagnosis.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
