I earned my B.S. in Psychology in 2005 and M.A. in Professional Counseling in 2008 from Central Michigan University. Through my residential and home-based work, I have experience working with children and families from many backgrounds. I work to create a nonjudgmental, safe, and supportive space for all to work on their desired goals.

I understand that psychological and emotional distress can come in many forms and affects each of us differently. My primary purpose is to help you overcome these obstacles, while focusing on personal growth and attaining your short and long-term goals. I provide therapy services for individuals of any age, including specializing in children/adolescents and their families. I have 30 years of experience working with children/adolescents in the Juvenile Justice System, addressing their behavioral concerns occurring at home, in school, and the community. I also have experience working with children and their families in the Community Mental Health setting.

I conceptualize people's lives as being like a recipe. If you (or I) put the ingredients into the bowl, we get a predictable final product- either good, bad or mixed. If you work with me we will figure out the good and the bad ingredients of your recipe. Some ingredients are beyond your control, some are not. We will then figure out how you can keep the bad ingredients out and the good ingredients in your life. What do you want your life to look like? Are you willing to pay the price to achieve that recipe?

I don't believe in having an "ideal client," but rather subscribe to Irvin Yalom's idea that the client/clinician relationship is one of "fellow travelers." Therefore, I view it as my responsibility to meet the client where they are in order to begin a journey in which their needs and strengths indicate the direction of therapy. I create a space in which my diverse client-base is inspired to be as truthful and expressive as possible and in which we can begin to pay attention to the client's deepest voice. Moving toward feeling and through repression is crucial to my work, and I believe lasting growth begins here.

I work with individuals across the lifespan, from age three through older adults while establishing an environment of safety, collaboration, and growth. Whether it's through play therapy with a child or insight development with adults, individuals are treated as unique and celebrated for what makes them different as we work together to help you reach your goals. It has long been a passion and dream of mine to provide therapeutic services for transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive children, youth, adolescent, adults and their families. As a queer transgender man of color, I passionately believe that when individuals are able to live as their true authentic selves they can live longer, robust, and happier lives. I have had the opportunity for the last 20 years of working with children, teens, adults, and families around the country in various roles along my career. I have been a practicing clinician since 2013, having obtained my graduate degree and training from Michigan State University, School of Social Work. I have been successful in helping individuals in identifying strengths and weaknesses to aid in addressing the presenting set of problems.
