You have a fundamental right to feel happy, loved, and connected. There are many things that get in the way of that, including struggles like anxiety and depression. This can be caused by past trauma or other negative experiences, as well as genetics or circumstance. You might find that you’re your own worst critic, finding ways to judge or put yourself down. In truth, we’re all doing the best we can and we deserve support to heal, grow, and accept all the parts of ourselves. In addition to treating anxiety and depression, I provide support for conditions such as PTSD, ADHD, and OCD, among others.

Now we are here to extend the tremendous benefits from Neurofeedback and other healing modalities with you and your family. We opened our doors to support you and your loved ones, in the way these tools have supported us and our loved ones. We look forward to being of service however we can. - Nicole & Brandon

Being human is not always easy and life can be quite difficult. There may be times when you worry about the future, feel angry or sad; guilty or ashamed; feel upset about the emotional pain you are experiencing; or feel overwhelmed, anxious and stressed. Therapy can help by providing you with the tools and insights to help you navigate through the most difficult of life's experiences. I believe our most challenging times in life can also be our greatest opportunity for change and growth-therapy is the place to nurture that process.

The individuals, couples, and families with whom I work are interested in understanding and addressing not only certain specific emergent problems such as those associated with adjustment and relationship difficulties, depression, and anxiety, but also the underlying thoughts, feelings, and behavioral and relational patterns that have contributed to the development of these problems. Through a collaborative, empathic, psychotherapeutic process, these individuals, couples, and families expand and utilize their skills, strengths, and self-understanding in order to live more meaningful and rewarding lives.

As a psychotherapist & social researcher, I have 20+ years experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing a broad range of challenges & issues. We all live together in the same society, but the complex factors that effect each of us individually can create challenges that make it hard to succeed, live up to our potential & lead happy, satisfying lives. There are tools, that we can use to deal with these challenges. Learning how to access our inner strength and power is something each of us are capable of - and this empowerment is the key to resolving confusion, pain & suffering.

I've been in practice for over 10 years and have seen patients from three-ninety years old. Many transitions occur throughout the lifespan and during these transitions; some can be more difficult than expected and need examining for better understanding and practices. To do this I facilitate an environment free of judgement and help my patients understand their feelings and thoughts, as well as how to improve their behaviors to better their lives and futures. I enjoy my work and very much and strive to help people find their own voice, achieve their greatest accomplishments and successes in life, love, and work.

You are lying in your bed at 3:00am and you're not sure what went wrong or how things in your life got so derailed. It seems like there is no end to your worrying, stress and fear. This isn’t how you thought life would unfold for you. You can't connect the dots to how you got here, and you certainly can't envision where to go next for things to feel better. Or maybe you're part of a couple, and you don’t recognize the person lying next to you anymore, and you don’t know what happened in your relationship: you think you loved this person - you know you did love this person - but you have no idea how things got so disconnected.

I am often contacted by clients unable to derive pleasure from their daily lives. At times, these problems are clearly linked to anxiety, depression, or to inner conflicts. However, at other times, clients are not able to point to specific symptoms, but rather are troubled by a vague sense of dissatisfaction that complicates relationships, work life, or their ability to be successful in school or in other pursuits. Previous attempts to solve these problems through the use of medications or by focusing on behavior or cognitions have proven less than satisfactory, and have led to an interest in trying insight-oriented psychotherapy.

At some time or another in life, everyone feels stuck, unable to overcome some problem despite his or her best efforts. Talking therapy can be invaluable in helping one gain new perspectives on oneself . By helping clients see themselves in new, broader, more realistic and more accepting ways, I help them gain the emotional and psychological energy and understanding to make needed changes. I believe I am most helpful to people by listening carefully to what they are saying and by helping them put into words what seems hard to say or even to understand right now.

Life can be hard. Young people face a number of challenges-- family stresses, anxiety about growing older and separating from parents, peer pressure, the lure of substances. As adults, we also face painful stressors-- divorce, for example, losses, aging. We can become stuck, overwhelmed, and confused. In my work with adolescents and adults, I offer an engaged, intensive approach that will allow us to understand how longstanding dysfunctional patterns and beliefs affect your daily life. Specialized training and decades of experience have taught me that the better we understand ourselves, the better we can handle challenges and implement adaptive solutions.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
