Anxiety, depression and anger, work or relationship troubles, grief and loss, abuse and sexual identity concerns are some of the many common issues I help people navigate on a daily basis.
I have found that people tend to seek therapy when they are experiencing some kind of stressful situation in their life. You may have found that you keep repeating bad patterns or that you feel stuck in your relationships or your job and you don't know what to do to get unstuck. We all need to find someone we can feel safe sharing our deepest concerns with and we want to feel understood. Whether the work is brief, or more long-term, I am passionate about helping you to develop behavior changes that will lead to healing and eventually to you fulfilling your potential.

I am deeply committed to racial, sexual and gender affirmation.
I'm looking to hold space with folks who feel marginalized; who feel overwhelmed; who need to be reminded of their strengths, their hopes and their dreams. If your every day experience is feeling like a slog, let's talk. If you want more out of your life; if you want to reignite sparks, redefine goals, reinvigorate your soul, let's get together. I support affirming and accepting care of all kinds.

Are you curious about what circumstances, traumas, and relationships have set the stage for how you experience your life? Are you feeling stuck inside yourself or your relationship? Are you overwhelmed by thoughts and anxieties that seem insurmountable? Does it seem like your own queerness is too difficult to parse on your own?

Are you excited to chat about your sex addiction, porn addiction & intimacy issues? If you said "yes," you'd be the first. Unfortunately, these issues may be running your life. And that corrosive shame deep in your bones? It's likely rooted in trauma (I'll be shocked if it's not). Fortunately, through attachment work, EMDR & other modalities, we can heal emotional wounds and move you toward recovery & wholeness. I also work with couples because I learned in grad school that, apparently, relationships are hard. There's infidelity, betrayal trauma, mismatched libidos, the fact that your partner talks to his mom nine times a day…

I have specialized training related to sexual health, and I'm a member of the 2018 cohort of the University of Michigan Sexual Health Certificate program.
After our first session, most of my clients express feeling relief and hope. Later in therapy, they tell me that sessions have changed their lives in surprising ways, and that they have learned things about themselves they didn't know before. It's very important to me that therapy is useful and helpful. During our first session, we'll explore your goals and needs in therapy, and how you would like to feel better. At the end of our first hour together, you'll have someone on your side to help, and a plan to move forward. I look forward to connecting with you soon!

Sex Therapy

Who is sex therapy for?

Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.

Why do people need sex therapy?

Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.

What happens in sex therapy?

People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.

What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?

Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
