Every person is made up of their own unique experiences and backgrounds, and I believe the therapy process should reflect that. Together, we’ll create a space where “you” are central. We all possess the wisdom needed to make meaningful changes in our lives. However, anxiety, stress, depression, and other struggles can interfere with this ability. As a psychologist, I strive to create a supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable making sense of their emotions, experiences, internal signals, and body’s cues, so they are better able to make decisions and changes that feel right.

I believe the patient/therapist alliance in a therapeutic setting can be a key for human growth and development. I hope to create a safe place where emotions and past and present experiences can be shared freely without judgement. Beginning psychotherapy can be a scary thing and opening up to another person can feel overwhelming, yet I am committed to make the process less scary for you and more manageable over time. I earned my master's degree from the University of Michigan in 1998, and I have a wide range of experience including in Psychiatric Emergency, Inpatient Units, Corrections, Community Mental Health and Private Practice.

Life is hard! Pause for a moment and give yourself credit for taking this brave, difficult step. You're respecting your struggles AND looking for constructive ways to address them. I use a collaborative and exploratory (rather than expert) model to help you develop/access resources to navigate life's difficulties. I use approaches supported by research while recognizing the limits of evidence-based therapies which often need to be adapted, abandoned, or incorporated with other practices to meet a person's realities, needs, and strengths. I strive to create a safe supportive relationship and deeply value feedback and dialogue.

You feel exhausted and stuck. You are disconnected from yourself and others. You’re sick of being on autopilot. You are tired of being brave. You find yourself in the same old patterns. You want to change but you don't know how. You can't help but replay the same painful memories, worries, and negative self-talk in your mind. Maybe you've tried self-care practices, meditation, or yoga and they helped, but you can't shake the feeling that there's more to explore on your healing path. We are here for folks with the desire to look inward and make the changes in their lives that they have been craving.

Are you often not getting what you want out of your relationships? Are you feeling guilt and shame far more than contentment or pride? Are you the parent of a child who is struggling to feel safe and protected in a chaotic world? I collaborate with individuals across the lifespan in addressing the causal factors underlying conditions like anxiety, depression and trauma. I completed an internship and a two year fellowship at University of Michigan Outpatient Psychiatry, where I had the unique opportunity to develop expertise in providing integrative, attachment-oriented psychotherapy for both adults and children.

Welcome! I specialize in therapy for adults who are interested in digging into their relational history, anxiety, or parenting. Over the years, I have transitioned from working with children to working with adults. My strong understanding of child development helps me support adult clients in making sense of their early years and changing patterns that are no longer serving them. I often work with parents who want to parent in a way that is different than how they were parented and new parents who are feeling overwhelmed. I also enjoy supporting individuals who are having difficulties in their relationships.

Coping with depression, anxiety, career burnout, life transitions, grief and relationship stress can be overwhelming. Unexpected life changes, challenging emotions and negative thoughts can feel draining and lonely. You are not alone. Therapy begins with a trusting connection between the client and therapist. A non-judgmental environment where you feel heard, understood and supported is important. You are not just another appointment on the schedule and I believe in connecting with clients on a deeper level. I look forward to helping you heal and cope with uncomfortable life transitions, loss and any challenges that you are facing.

I am passionate about providing mental health services to adolescents and young adults. I will bring to our sessions knowledge about anxiety, depression, sexual trauma, eating disorders, dissociation (including dissociative identity disorder), and other mental health issues. Additionally, I am an innately curious person, so if there is a topic you want to discuss that I am not experienced in, I will happily complete research so that we can navigate it together.

The scars of painful past experiences can present many different ways in our life. You may find yourself easily triggered by small things or caught in patterns affecting your relationships. Perhaps you have difficulty sleeping, low confidence, or feel easily anxious or depressed.

My clients often believe they are a burden to others. They think they need to be perfect to be loved and that it would overwhelm others to know how they really feel. These beliefs leave them feeling anxious, lonely, ashamed and unhappy. They often isolate and use pornography, video games or substances to numb themselves. They may seek advice online, but find this information unhelpful. They may beat themselves up in frustration. Often, they seek therapy to have: better relationships; security and trust to express their needs; greater motivation and a sense of control over their life; and the confidence to be their authentic selves.
