I primarily use eye-movement desensitization reprocessing ( EMDR) and internal family systems (IFS) therapy, which are evidence-based modalities that focus on healing past wounds.
In my experience working with clients and in my own therapy, I have found that discovering and addressing the root of mental health struggles is more effective long-term than treating the symptoms. This has led me to pursue training in modalities that are focused on trauma, but can be used to treat challenges like anxiety and depression as well. If you would like to better understand where your struggles or coming from (or if you feel like you totally understand where they're coming from but don't know what to do about it) my approach will likely be a good fit for you.

I have training in EMDR ( EMDR Institute), CBT (University of Michigan Depression Center TRAILS), DBT informed practices (DBT Institute of Michigan) and ACT as the main modalities I embrace.
You found me! I know it can be hard to take the steps to connect with a therapist. How can I help you? Do you find yourself having difficulty navigating your thoughts and feelings? Do you struggle with feelings of anxiety? Are you struggling to navigate day-to-day stressors, life transitions, challenging relationships, upsetting circumstances, or feel held back by past traumas? Past trauma can also lead to negative cognitions or unhelpful scripts we develop about ourselves (i.e. "I'm not good enough," "I'm not lovable," "I can't trust anyone," "I'm not safe," etc.). I am here to offer you support and develop effective coping skills.

As an EMDR therapist, I use EMDR to help clients heal from the most difficult moments in their life.
Have you experienced a negative life changing event and have not felt the same since? Were you raised in an unhealthy or abusive home? Have you seen improvement with talk therapy but need something more? You could have trauma. Trauma can develop from a single incident like a car accident or sexual assault. It can also develop from multiple negative experiences over time. This could look like working in a toxic environment, having a very critical coach or parent or living in a home with domestic violence. If you are struggling with day to day life as a result of unresolved trauma, let's talk about using a different approach.

As a Certified IFS Therapist, EMDR-approved consultant, and Level II ADEP, I work primarily in psychotherapy models (IFS, EMDR, and AEDP) that invite the opportunity to experientially understand and transformationally shift some ways you may be experiencing concerns and disturbances in your life.
As a relentlessly compassionate experiential psychotherapist, I want to provide you a new experience, an experience that is good and allows you to experience yourself in a new way that feels connected, seen, heard, and understood. If talk therapy hasn't been sufficient in the past for anxiety, trauma, self-esteem/self-concept concerns, or difficulties in your relationships. Consider calling me. The specialty populations I serve are other therapists, physicians and medical professionals, college-age students and emerging adults, the LQBTQIA+ community, and those dealing with grief and relationship problems.

I integrate my experience at Michigan Medicine and training in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and an attachment lens.
You're exhausted from trying to hold it together. No matter how hard you try, you constantly feel stuck. Your body won't let go of trauma and stress. You feel like you are always on alert. It feels like there's always a threat. You feel as though something you wrong with you. You worry that you are broken. It seems like you have lost your way, but you know there is more to you than your past. You are ready to heal and no longer want to be stuck in the past. You're not ready to give up. You know this is the time for change but you aren't sure where to turn or what to do. You are ready to release the trauma trapped inside.

I have completed Level 2 in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and I am trained in EMDR.
If you like the Robin Williams therapist character from the movie "Good Will Hunting," that is who I try to embody. I believe in meeting people where they're at, and helping them find and use the tools to work through their pain. I can help if you're struggling with depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, poor self-esteem, trauma, or adjustment issues. I really like to help people go deeper into their present issues, through a somatic, psychodynamic, and attachment focused lens. I am also really interested in intuitive eating.

Linda has an LMSW from the University of Michigan, and specialty training in EMDR (which is a simple way of processing and lessening the intensity of traumatic memories), CBT, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and teaches simple - accessible mindfulness skills.
The foundation of effective and beneficial therapy is a good relationship. The relationship between therapist and client can provide an opportunity for working through difficult emotions and experiences, both past and present. I strive to develop a nonjudgmental partnership with each person I see in therapy, keeping in mind that every person and situation is unique. This allows us, together, to explore and understand the issues that bring you to therapy and how to begin to resolve them.

I am trained and EMDRIA-certified in Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR (SAFE).
We are all facing intense situations and it is easy to feel stuck, overwhelmed, and struggling with who we are and who we want to be. It is common to notice the patterns that we repeat over time in our lives and continue to do automatically. I believe deeply that when we are supported in processing what is coming up and connecting with our values, we grow our capacity to show up and build the world we want to live in. I strive to hold space for adults who have experienced impactful events that make it harder to be the person they want to be. EMDR is a powerful approach to rewire these patterns and open new possibilities.

It’s through connection that we find meaning and discover we are not alone. I love working with clients who are curious and ready for positive change. I use Internal Family Systems, EMDR and other evidence-based tools to help my clients navigate their own process of self exploration, resolve trauma, and move in the direction of healing and growth. I believe therapy is an opportunity to explore what is unsaid or undiscovered in our experience. We can learn to hold space for the parts of ourselves most in need of our love and appreciation so we can truly live our most fulfilled life.

By integrating EMDR and Internal Family Systems therapies, I establish a therapy space that is curious, compassionate, and evidence-based.
Hello! I'm MaryAnn. I work with adults (18+) experiencing mood, stressor, and/or trauma related challenges. Many of my clients seek therapy to explore their identities & patterns, navigate relationship dynamics, and reprocess disturbing memories. Whatever your reason, therapy is a brave space to get to know your parts and ultimately connect with your inherent wholeness. As a mom, daughter, sister, spouse, and friend, I have navigated - and am navigating - many of these stages myself.

I am trained in EMDR and have been using it in sessions for over 10 years.
Currently NOT accepting new clients! You may be browsing this website because you are at the beginning of your search for a therapist. Researching therapists is the first step. Then, making the first contact is next: this can be incredibly difficult. I see the therapeutic relationship as one of the most unique relationships: as a therapist, I am not your friend or family member, as I do not have any preconceived notions about what you “should” or “should not”do. I see myself as someone who works with you to set and accomplish goals, someone who supports you, assist you in solving problems and is part of your "team".

My practice offers EMDR, sex therapy, and financial therapy.
Some challenges in life we hide and avoid, and over time those challenges only grow and become more disruptive. Feelings of shame and fear can hold us back from seeking support and solutions. Do you wish you could experience more pleasure, intimacy, and joy? Is a past trauma impacting your ability to connect with others and holding you back from living a full life? Psychotherapy can provide space to explore, gain insight, and establish knowledge and skills that allow you to live a more fulfilling life.

My specializations include trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and loss; I also provide EMDR therapy.
Seeking therapy is an invaluable investment in oneself, and I believe it is my job as a therapist to empower clients to find and live their own paths and truths. The path to healing begins with a trusting and accepting therapist-client relationship; I provide a space that recognizes and centers the unique strengths, values, and lived experiences of each individual, and I seek to partner with clients to best meet their needs. Respecting client self-determination is fundamental to my practice, which is grounded in cultural humility and recognizing the ways in which our values and identities form the many facets of who we are.

I use a mix of talk therapy and EMDR.
Hi there :) I understand that it can be difficult to share thoughts and feelings. There are times when we want to share how we feel, but the words just do not come together the way we want them to. Perhaps it is the way you feel hopeless about the future, passive in your own life, paralyzed when thinking about how to move forward, dispensable, unimportant, not good enough, alone despite being in a room full of people, or invisible in a world that does not see you. I often work with combinations of trauma, self-esteem, identity confusion, and grief. If any of this resonates with you, I want to support you!
