I provide therapy to adults, adolescents, and children who are experiencing issues related to stress, anxiety, depression, and significant life changes. I offer individual, couples, and family therapy.

I have over 30 years of counseling and case management experience, helping clients with a variety of concerns: depression, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, codependency, boundaries, self-esteem, life adjustments, grief/loss, work-related concerns, substance use disorders, health issues, caregiver stress, etc. I can assist someone with short-term solution focused counseling, or more chronic concerns such as abuse and trauma. I also offer completion of the Substance Use Evaluation for Driver License Appeal in Michigan. I am also Board Certified Case Manager, as my "day job" is a CM in medical family practice.

I utilize an eclectic approach to counseling to meet the unique needs of individuals to support them to work toward their goals. These evidence-based approaches include Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I can support parent-child relationships for certain families using a framework to therapy called Child-Parent Psychotherapy. In addition, I draw from my knowledge and insight of the Three Principles; Mind, Thought, and Consciousness.

Trauma can infiltrate our lives, hijacking our brains, causing painful anxiety, depression, or making it difficult to have healthy relationships. Jessie Haarer, LMSW, has worked with clients of all ages, using a strength based, person-centered approach and various therapeutic techniques. She has worked with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, life changes, trauma, and other stressors. Jessie has experience working with parents and children on attachment and development.

I conceptualize people's lives as being like a recipe. If you (or I) put the ingredients into the bowl, we get a predictable final product- either good, bad or mixed. If you work with me we will figure out the good and the bad ingredients of your recipe. Some ingredients are beyond your control, some are not. We will then figure out how you can keep the bad ingredients out and the good ingredients in your life. What do you want your life to look like? Are you willing to pay the price to achieve that recipe?

My ideal cliental would be any person who is seeking to improve their life. They would be seeking unconditional positive regard, in regards to their current life situations. My clients would be encouraged to express their feelings and discuss what is going on in their life that has caused them to seek counseling.
