Therapy is a collaborative process and I work with clients to create a safe and supportive environment so they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My approach to counseling is rooted in person-centered therapy, which emphasizes the client's experiences, perspective and needs. I believe that clients are the experts on their own lives. I work with each client to identify their own goals and develop a plan for achieving them. I am committed to helping clients identify and address the underlying factors contributing to their mental struggles and supporting them in developing healthy coping strategies.
Although a traumatic-inducing event may be over, the body will continue to respond as if the threat is still present. I use different techniques to help clients process their experiences and develop coping skills to manage the impact of trauma on their lives. I work with individuals to address conflicts, improve communication, and support positive change.
My expertise includes depression, anxiety, trauma, family and relationship issues, personality disorders and interpersonal counseling. I have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. I am an Illinois Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Trauma Professional.
