Hello! My name is Meredith Souto, and I am a trauma therapist with five years of experience in private practice. My approach is warm and non-judgmental. I strive to make therapy a collaborative and transparent process so clients understand what is happening in the therapy room and in their lives. My goal isn't just to help you know 'what you are supposed to do,' but to address the thought patterns, beliefs, body sensations, feelings, and memories that cause negative feelings and reactions so you truly do feel better in daily life.
I work with adults over 18, and I have experience working with PTSD, attachment trauma, stress, relationships, life adjustments, identity and mood disorders. My practice uses 'top down' and 'bottom up' techniques, meaning we focus on logic/cognition as well as techniques to help regulate visceral responses associated with trauma and chronic stress.
My primary modalities are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
