I have great respect for the journey that people take as they learn to create their own life and I understand their sharing it with me to be a privilege. The most central ideas in my work stem from using a holistic approach in which I facilitate the concept of mindfulness and acceptance of oneself. I find that using a variety of theories and techniques based on each individual's personality and needs are what has been most effective in working with clients from various backgrounds.
In addition, I am both certified and an Approved Consultant in EMDR, a widely respected and successfully proven technique for working with people who have experienced various forms of trauma as well as anxiety, depression, and loss/grief. People often find relief from distressing symptoms more rapidly than with traditional talk therapy.
My clinical experience has been focused on working with both individuals and couples. My philosophy about psychotherapy is that it is a mutual process of learning and working together to help the client move in the desired direction.
