Coming to therapy is a big decision: sometimes we know right away what we want to focus on; other times, it takes a while to find what it is we want to discover about ourselves. I value taking the time to build a relationship with my clients that allows them to feel like they are the leaders of their own treatment. As a clinician, my goals are your goals. You set the stage in our sessions, and I am the one who helps guide you to where you need to be. I believe in building a therapeutic relationship that allows for openness, understanding, trust, and empathy; and the best and most effective clinical work happens when you feel safe.
My areas of interest include: stress management, life adjustments, relationships, anxiety, depression, PTSD, building self-esteem/body image, addressing suicidal thoughts/urges, using mindfulness based approaches, working with clients who are adopted, and exposure-based interventions. The theories I use most often in my work include: CBT, DBT, MI, and ACT.
I enjoy working with adults and teens ages 14 and up, and have a specialty in working with college/ high school students. I grew up surrounded by ethnic, gender, and religious diversity; I come from a family with two mothers, and identify as an adoptee. I value working with folx of all backgrounds and look forward to supporting you in your therapy journey.
