I believe that each client knows their lives best, and therapy can be a combined journey between therapist and client. I use strength-based, motivational and solution focused approaches to best help my clients. By doing this, I believe that you will begin to heal at your own pace and in your own way. Although therapy can be uncomfortable, we can encourage the change and growth to better our lives. I believe we can find appreciation and peace in working together to heal. My goal is for you to have found therapy worth your while.

When adversity affects human lives, it is common to experience diverse negative emotions, cognitions, behaviors, and trauma. Lives unravel, and it is often hard to regain control and peace. My delight is helping people to heal from traumatic/stressful experiences. In my practice, I help children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples identify their strengths, find healthy perceptions of themselves, and improve their relationships. So they can find peace, safety, and joy in their lives again.

How can we move out of darkness and suffering into a rich and meaningful life? Sometimes the right therapeutic space is the first step. Life is inherently heavy - attempting to navigate anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma alone only makes in heavier. I believe we are our strongest powers - through self-compassion, self-awareness, and safe connection - healing is always possible. You are a resilient being - tapping into your resilience is just the first step. I am here to meet you where you're at, walk with you on your journey, and provide skills & resources along the way. I enjoy working with individuals & couples.

I approach therapy with a nonjudgmental perspective and a curiosity to understand the unique experiences leading clients to therapy. I believe a strong, genuine connection and collaboration between therapist and client can not only be an opportunity to improve coping skills and process through trauma and other difficulties, but also a catalyst to improving access to experiences of joy and contentment in life. I support clients with their therapy goals whether returning or starting for the first time. Therapy is often a brave journey of exploring the parts of ourselves that we might avoid… feeling scared, sad, angry, confused.

Every individual has inherent value, strengths and gifts. I use compassion and a variety of clinical interventions to help my clients work through the challenges that are preventing them from experiencing life in a more fulfilling way. Too often we succumb to the narrative that we are not good enough, flawed, broken. You may have suffered due to trauma and harm inflicted by others or a painful life event. We will work together to help you recognize their own resiliency, heal trauma and harmful messages and gain effective coping strategies.

In the upheaval of trauma, divorce, loss or change, our very sense of self can seem lost. These pivotal experiences can leave us feeling anxious, depressed or broken, when we are in fact on a natural, yet difficult, search for new bearings. This work requires discomfort and vulnerability, and it is also the most meaningful, honest work we get to do as we navigate our own evolution. I specialize in helping women and couples heal while building the resilience to navigate future challenges. Free phone consultations. Therapy, coaching, yoga and retreats available. Affordable online resilience program: TheResilienceClass.com

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “How did I get here?” Sometimes life feels hard, overwhelming, and chaotic. Maybe you just don’t know where to start or you feel lost. Maybe you’re embarrassed that you can’t handle things on your own or like you don’t know who to ask for help. Perhaps you're going through a rough patch or you're looking to improve your relationships with friends, family, or partner. Or, maybe your child is struggling with anger, sadness, or anxiety.

Life sometimes throws us curveballs we never saw coming. All too often we are left feeling confused, overwhelmed, and on edge. We might even find ourselves with intense feelings of pain and sadness. Gabor Mate stated, “The attempt to escape from pain, is what creates more pain.” Therapy helps us to work through our pain so we are better able to show up for life more authentically.

I personally know what it is like to reach out for support. Everyone has a unique story, and therapy doesn’t look the same for any two people. I am committed to remaining curious, non-judgemental and open to understanding you. I believe that it is imperative to be grounded in evidence-based practices, I find it equally as important to be genuine and compassionate within this very connection-based work. I primarily utilize humanistic and narrative therapeutic approaches, and often incorporate other modalities to best address the unique needs of each person I work with. I am trained in and offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in South Jordan?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
