Because the brain is a social organ, people do better in connection. FMRI studies show that both emotional and physical pain is relieved by close connection with another. Therefore, I work from an "Attachment" perspective, providing a secure base for my clients to work through their struggles, trauma, and/or mental health challenges. I have extensive training in human emotion, limbic revision, and relationship distress and am comfortable working with individuals, couples and families.
I am specialized in Emotionally Focused Couples therapy. This certification has trained me to help my clients sort through their sometimes complicated inner worlds, and effectively connect with those they love. Couples get stuck in cycles that leave them feeling distant and dissatisfied. EFT provides a map for creating emotional safety and closeness.
