Clients describe me as warm, engaging and invested in joining them in their wish to feel better and to live in ways that more closely resemble who they want to be. I work with individuals and families dealing with a variety of challenges: anxiety and depression, difficulties in relationships, gender and sexual orientation questions, parenting dilemmas as well as general struggles with life. My orientation is psychodynamic and relational and I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based techniques into my work. My intent is to establish a warm and compassionate environment that fosters a sense of safety and trust.
I was an Adjunct Associate Professor at New York University School of Social Work for 30 years and I currently supervise clinicians at all levels of practice. The opportunity to teach and train has allowed me to share the interventions I have learned as well as to stay close to what therapists are seeing every day in their practices.
We all experience challenges in our lives, yet as unique individuals, we develop our own responses to how we manage a range of feelings and thoughts. In therapy, we will work together to help you achieve your own personal goals. Please feel free to call and I will provide a thoughtful and thorough consultation.
