I offer EMDR therapy & brainspotting intensives to kick-off your healing process, because feeling better shouldn’t take months or even years to occur.
You are a woman who wants to feel like you have your feet underneath you, but deep down you are struggling with constantly feeling on edge or disconnected from life. You may have had a life changing event or maybe several events that are weighing heavily on you. You may be fed up trying to survive the day to day. You might not remember a time when things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to release the things weighing you down. You’re ready to have a better sense of control over your life. Most of all, you’re ready to transform into the best version of yourself.

I am certified in EMDR, level 3 trained in Internal Family Systems (currently becoming certified) and level 2 trained in the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT Institute).
I use the IFS model and a collaborative compassionate approach to help you identify and understand your inner system so you can connect with your core Self. Our sessions will also strongly focus on developing a trusting working relationship, with me but more importantly with yourself — helping you to minimize internal chaos and feel more balance and harmony. I am currently only accepting individual clients that are seeking to work in this modality or who are seeking treatment with EMDR. I am accepting couples who are interested in therapy.

The most important aspect of my work as a therapist is the relationship between therapist and client. This allows the therapuetic alliance to be formed. My focus is on teaching adults and seniors new coping skills and life skills to help alleviate their symptoms of depression, anxiety, fears or phobias. I also help people who are struggling with traumatic memories using EMDR as a treatment modality. I have been trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy, teaching one to change existing thought processes thus leading to positive thinking and coping skills. I use a holistic bio-psycho-social model which incorporates mindfulness therapy using relaxation techniques.

I primarily use EMDR, meditation, mindfulness, and contemplative practices.
My hope is to bring awareness to your past and present experiences to facilitate a true healing in moving forward. It is possible to move through darkness into your light. I have an understanding and awareness of psychological and somatic/body patterning to help with trauma from abuse, acute events, relationship/attachment struggles, grief/loss, chronic pain, self-esteem/love, life transitions, and faith based/spiritual needs. Life events and experiences shape the way we see ourselves and how we live out each day. I believe a person can connect their mind, body, senses, heart and soul to return to inner balance and health.

I am also trained in CBT, DBT and EMDR.
I specialize in helping people work through anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences and adjust to life changes. My goal is to help you find a way to identify and then move towards what is most important in your life. This can entail identifying obstacles that can keep us trapped in old patterns and habits that no longer serve us well, such as traumatic memories or simply negative concepts about ourselves. Entering therapy is signaling that you are ready to make significant change - whether in behaviors or thoughts - to find deeper meaning in your life.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
