I treat anxiety and depression, trauma, substance use disorders, and chronic health conditions and chronic pain.
I have been a student of psychology, the mind, and human behavior for over 30 years. My patients and clients have been my primary teachers, sharing with me the hard-won wisdom of their direct experiences. Helping them navigate their challenges has enriched my own life and taught me a range of strategies and perspectives that may also help you. I do not treat disorders, I treat whole individuals. I help some clients to identify and remove themselves from patterns that keep them stuck and that keep them from living as fully as they would wish. I help other clients learn to carry heavy burdens differently.

Specializing in PTSD/Anxiety/Depression, I work to facilitate your body's innate healing response through possible EMDR, CBT & Eclectic applications.
Welcome! In this very moment you're choosing to be on your journey. My therapeutic philosophy is to facilitate and support your body's innate healing response through the applications of EMDR, (EMDRIA.ORG) and heart-centered therapies. EMDR in particular works to liberate clients from past trauma memories whether that be small "t" trauma or big 'T" trauma and to transform a person's subconscious beliefs thus "turning down the volume" on negative memories/negative beliefs and transforming those subconscious beliefs back into positive core beliefs so that you may become your highest aspect of yourself.

As a seasoned trauma therapist, I know healing is absolutely possible & you deserve to feel at ease in your life.
You are a woman who wants to feel like you have your feet underneath you, but deep down you are struggling with constantly feeling on edge or disconnected from life. You may have had a life changing event or maybe several events that are weighing heavily on you. You may be fed up trying to survive the day to day. You might not remember a time when things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to release the things weighing you down. You’re ready to have a better sense of control over your life. Most of all, you’re ready to transform into the best version of yourself.

You’ll find a combination of DBT, CBT, IFS, Narrative Therapy, and other trauma-informed interventions used.
Currently accepting NEW clients! Whether the result of traumatic events, family dynamics, life transitions, or the stress of being a human, anxiety presents itself for these and other reasons, and it can feel overwhelming. Not knowing what to do, how to address it, or why it shows up can make us feel like we’re adrift without a paddle. Often, we think that we’re broken or that we need fixing. The truth is that we’re not broken, and anxiety is showing up to tell us that something needs our attention. Finding the answers to these questions can be challenging, and this is where therapy can be helpful.

Collaboratively we create customized, innovative, empowering treatments for anger, anxiety, depression, mood, personality, identity, dissociative, delusional sleep disorders, life adjustments, illness, loss, grief, dementia and complex trauma.
Focused on healing through trauma-informed, body-based care and grounded in family systems theory, I draw on a range of counseling approaches including; psychodynamic, transpersonal, existential, expressive, mindfulness, mind-body, behavioral (DBT and CBT). Together we sojourn toward self-awareness and compassion for self. Emblematic moments from the past may have become conditioned responses to the present. We focus both on here and now and historical events. TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique), mindfulness, sensorimotor psychotherapy and EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing help re-program stored arousal in the body.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
