I have both in person and video availability. I work with people who have trouble with relationships, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, rage fits, struggle with addiction/alcohol, have gone through trauma, and grew up in unhealthy homes. People who at times wish they could escape life and need support to remember how to smile, or sometimes learn how to smile (for real) for the first time. If someone uses legal and/or illegal substances and wants to quit or not, I support your decision. If you want to ease your anxiety, anger, and/or sadness and want to feel happy, I believe you deserve that! :)

I consider myself a generalist and have worked with those experiencing depression, anxiety, the after-effects of trauma, behavior problems, domestic violence, and anger issues among others.
I am a seasoned clinican with over thirty years expericence in the field. I seek to create a comfortable, professional, and safe environment. My style is personal, informal, and direct. I endeavor to use humor, when appropriate, to put clients at ease, and provide perspective in order to move our work forward. My orientation is psychodynamic though I rely heavily on cognitive behavioral approaches because they have been shown to be effective and because the concepts can be readily understood.

Also mental health and co occurring clients that struggle with difficulties that may include; depression, anxiety, trauma related symptoms, anger and other symptoms that are affecting you.
Everyone is subject to facing challenges in life, some more difficult than others. It's common to need extra support during these times, it can often bring us comfort, reassurance and clarity. Remembering that we are strong, resilient and that we hold our own solutions can be empowering and provide confidence. When faced with mental health related symptoms, addictions issues or family addiction issues, it's easy to become overwhelmed and forget what we need to do to take care of ourselves. Seeking therapy is a brave and decisive way to provide self care. We are often more kind to others than we are to ourselves, prioritize you.

Couseling is a journey that starts with accepting where you are and finding a way to the other side of the challenge. Using a strength based approach we start with the resources you do have on board. Then through a variety of tools we discover what is geeting in the way of finding the peace and hope you are looking for. As a therapist I am aware that we are complex people that often need a safe place to sort things out and make meaning of life. . I am able to accept most forms of insurance including Mainecare.

The very act of considering counseling is taking a courageous step toward change. At one time or another, most of us have faced life events that can throw us off and where we end up feeling stuck. Does this sound familiar? This is where therapy can assist. Talking with a professional counselor can bring clarity, perspective, and hope. The counseling process represents a collaboration between client and therapist. We will formulate and implement action plans, set goals, and assess progress throughout the process.

Please note that I am currently at capacity and unable to accept new patients at this time. There is wisdom in the ways we adapt to our environments, but they do not always serve us in the present moment. My aim is to help people identify their adaptive patterns and view them with compassion, while also learning what to hold and what to let go. As a neurobiological informed therapist, I aim to help people move from judgement, shame and isolation to curiosity, acceptance and connection.

Accepting New Clients- Movement and Talk and personal training- my focus typically centers around issues of depression, anxiety, self esteem while incorporating physically moving our bodies. The type of movement is determined by the client-taking into considerations their interests, needs, abilities, and counseling goals. It can be walking, stretching, hiking to fitness in the gym. It's mindful and supportive with an extra goal of increasing clients comfort level and power over their health - which then can help to alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, promote mental clarity, boost self-esteem, and improve sleep.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
