Hate therapy? I get it. If you are missing out on a sense of peace or feel like you'll burst if something doesn't change soon, however, then it’s worth it to invest in yourself through therapy. Concerns I work with most are: men’s issues (i.e. intimacy), codependency, life transitions (i.e. college, divorce), anxiety, substance use disorders, self esteem/empowerment. No matter what your concern, I'm committed to not pathologizing people. You are not broken! I tailor sophisticated treatment modalities to your needs and pride myself in being present with you during our sessions.

I support people at times like these- of change, stress, grief, relationship struggles, and family difficulties. Being in the middle of these emotional situations, it's hard to get the clarity you need. I work from a strengths perspective to support you in making the changes you desire and to see a path through the overwhelm. I'm especially interested in supporting you with your own inner critic, to develop a kinder relationship to self. I look forward helping you reset and move forward.

We often find ourselves stuck in all too familiar negative patterns. Patterns of behavior that we know don't serve ourselves or our loved ones. Patterns of thought that always seem to tear us down no matter how much progress we make. Patterns within relationships that are less than we deserve. Patterns of anxiety and stress that feel out of our control. Many of us have worked hard to understand and change these patterns: setting goals, self-help books, therapy, medication, meditation, and so on. Yet we find that the deepest patterns are frustratingly stubborn, seeming to rise to the surface no matter how much work we've done.

Does the concept of therapy scare you? I get it. Therapy is challenging, therapy can be scary, therapy can feel vulnerable...but therapy can also be healing, cathartic, freeing, and well...beautiful. My goal as a therapist is to provide my clients with a safe, comforting, and nonjudgmental space where you can be yourself as this is where the work can truly be done. During our sessions, I listen to your story, which helps me get to know you as a person rather than just a "patient". I also help my clients reflect on patterns that no longer serve them while drawing from their strengths and resiliency to make everlasting changes.

Do you want to experience the gift of love, safety, and connection with your partner? I help guide couples towards these goals. I work with couples who are looking to do the work to truly understand each other, build a strong foundation of empathy and emotional connection, and foster the communication skills that allow their relationship to thrive. Relationships require work and care. In couples therapy, we can work to reduce resentment, understand your needs, identify boundaries, and sort out roles and responsibilities in your family system. If you and your partner are ready to start this important work, I may be a good fit.

Sometimes life gets complicated. Fortunately, you're not alone. At the Center for Collaborative Therapy, treatment is tailored to meet your specific needs, whether you're struggling with your own personal demons like anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem, or whether you're struggling with problems in your couple or family relationships. Interpersonal problems are often at the root of psychological symptoms. Even children's difficulties are best addressed with those who care for them. It's not easy asking for help, but that first step can make all the difference. Please note that I do not take insurance.

I believe in an integrative and holistic approach to help clients find balance in their daily lives. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma or other challenges in your life, it is possible to work through it with someone who can offer skillful support and guidance. The goal that people say they most want; is to feel better, or that they want things to be different. It is possible for healing to occur and to work on issues that are hard to deal with in the right space. Change is possible and attainable.

Offering Therapy-ish Consultations: solution-oriented conversations focusing on tools, strategies and resources. Great for people who are unsure about the need for ongoing therapy, Consultations provide practical guidance to handle problems and stressors in your relationships, work, health and overall well-being. I lightheartedly describe my Consultations as Therapy-ish, because they have therapeutic qualities like psychotherapy, while being distinct from therapy itself. This unique approach to professional support and guidance provides an option for those whom the focus and framework of therapy might not be a fit.

It’s important to feel comfortable coming to therapy just as you are. Many of us experience major life changes, challenging relationships, grief, guilt, anxiety, or trauma reactions, that cause us to feel self-doubt, to feel disconnected from our needs and bodies, and to even minimize our own experiences. My approach, which is intersectional, developmentally focused, and trauma-informed, helps you tap into the knowledge your body and emotions have for you, while developing skills so these feelings don’t overwhelm and take center stage. I have current openings for EMDR, new parents with perinatal mood disorders, and LGBTQ folks.

What do you look for in a therapist? What's important? Surprisingly, age, gender, years of training and theoretical orientation are not the primary factors correlated with the effectiveness of a therapist. So how do you choose someone? Is it by their picture? The best website? The one that's taking new clients? Finding the right person can be incredibly difficult. Research suggests that the most important factors in positive therapeutic outcomes are the therapeutic alliance, working together to set collaborative goals, and the therapist's ability to be empathetic, accepting and genuine.

My parent coaching approach is grounded in Interpersonal Neurobiology and Attachment Theory. Through our time and work together, you will gain access to your very own x-ray vision goggles. Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
