My treatment includes exploration of energy, mindfulness, somatic work, and sprirituality (not religion).
Do you find yourself struggling with life transitions, changes, anxiety, burnout, feeling stuck? Have you been told you are an Empath or HSP and/or are you part of the LGBTQ+ or Queer community? I offer a safe and authentic space to align with you and support your individual growth. I use more of a “coaching” style and help support others with finding their authentic selves through tapping into their intuition and own unique wisdom. We all go through times when we need extra support. Starting therapy can be a first step to to healing and creating the life you want! I want you to get back to your higher self and life purpose.

Current client openings. If you are seeking help for something that impacts your life in a negative way, the first step is to care about it and then for it. The word "cure" originates in the Latin word for "care." Our sessions together are built upon this care, and we refine it as we go. It is this refined care that will give us access to difficult places, unresolved pain and trauma, fear, as well as untapped strengths or power. It is also this care that has the capacity to transform.

Focused on healing through trauma-informed, body-based care and grounded in family systems theory, I draw on a range of counseling approaches including; psychodynamic, transpersonal, existential, expressive, mindfulness, mind-body, behavioral (DBT and CBT). Together we sojourn toward self-awareness and compassion for self. Emblematic moments from the past may have become conditioned responses to the present. We focus both on here and now and historical events. TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique), mindfulness, sensorimotor psychotherapy and EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing help re-program stored arousal in the body.

I have additional training in experiential and somatic counseling.
When is the last time you really connected with nature? When is the last time you were able to slow down and just be? Often our bodies and minds hold the wisdom we are needing in the present moment. I find that moving and being in natural spaces inherently helps us tune into ourselves as individuals and ourselves as part of a web of life. My office setting is a garden with some woods for rambling when more movement is needed. Together we work with plants, animals, and natural elements to explore your needs, goals, fears, desires, strengths, and skills and how best to weave them into the web of your life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), a Bodywork and Somatic Education Practitioner and a Somatic EMDR Practitioner.
Your body feels what your mind thinks. Everything is connected. Our thoughts can help to make us well or conversely our thoughts can help make us sick. Somatic Experiencing is a very respectful way to seek to balance the body and the mind. A healthy state of wellness is a balanced state of being. I work with ages 18 and up utilizing a somatic approach. I work with clients having trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, grief and loss, and aging.

My therapeutic work often relies upon breath attention, mindfulness skills, and somatic awareness practices.
After working in preventative mental health care as a mindfulness educator, I gravitated towards social work because of its emphasis on exploring ourselves in the context of the world around us. My orientation as a mental health counselor is rooted in curiosity about what it means to be human and to heal. It is also grounded in the belief that any work we do to understand ourselves more deeply can have a profound reparative impact that goes beyond the individual into the community at large. Counseling is an opportunity to connect with someone who can hold space to observe and learn from your personal experience.

My client-centered, trauma-informed approach is rooted in Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and other evidence-based creative, mindful, and somatic approaches.
Hi, I’m Steph (she/her). My counseling approach is grounded in the belief that we all have the inner wisdom to heal, change, and grow through life’s challenges, and sometimes that requires help. I am passionate about working with clients to acknowledge the circumstances that lead them to seek care, collaborating to build new and stronger relationships with themselves, and exploring how those relationships hold the power to achieve their dreams and goals.

You are smart - an accomplished professional others rely upon. You struggle with self-doubt, worry, high expectations and a troublesome inner critic. Who do YOU turn to when you realize you're overwhelmed? You've been coping with life-altering challenges and realize you're stretched too thin and feel tired and ineffective. You've tried traditional therapy and sense it's not quite the right fit. You're curious about working with a coach who's walked her own path of transformation, and knows how to sit with the Unknown calmly, until it opens into something clarifying and bold. Call today - take advantage of a free meet & greet.

My approach is depth-oriented, collaborative, and attuned to embodied experience. In Jungian analysis, we aim to create a sturdy container for deepening your capacity to lean with curiosity into discomfort, difference, and the unknown as it shows up in your life. Bringing attention to both present experience and past dynamics, we will work together to become more connected to the stories and values that shape your sense of self, inform your symptoms, and tug you towards your own becoming. I draw on broader relational psychoanalytic and emotion-focused training, mindfulness practices, and somatically engaged Jungian dreamwork.

Welcome! In this very moment you're choosing to be on your journey. My therapeutic philosophy is to facilitate and support your body's innate healing response through the applications of EMDR, (EMDRIA.ORG) and heart-centered therapies. EMDR in particular works to liberate clients from past trauma memories whether that be small "t" trauma or big 'T" trauma and to transform a person's subconscious beliefs thus "turning down the volume" on negative memories/negative beliefs and transforming those subconscious beliefs back into positive core beliefs so that you may become your highest aspect of yourself.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
