I am a body psychotherapist and use a variety of somatic and traditional approaches, but first and foremost, I believe you guide our work.
Satisfaction, joy and self-awareness are key elements to a fulfilling life. Although that seems easier said than done, I believe that we can find these elements with encouraging support and guidance. I am a committed, compassionate therapist who is ready to help you uncover your inner strengths to make the changes you want and live a more gratifying life. I believe that we all take a journey to find ourselves, but it becomes even more difficult when we are burdened by depression, addiction and/or trauma. Finding the right fit can help us get through difficult times, creating positive relationship is paramount to our happiness.

In addition to talk therapy, I use EMDR & somatic experiencing, powerful methods that tap into our mind-body connection for sustained healing.
I believe that all people have the innate capacity to heal and grow from trauma and distress. I specialize in working with adults who have experienced challenging situations, past and present. These include trauma, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and difficult pregnancy & birth-related experiences. I also help people to address anxiety, grief and loss, and other life transitions. Drawing on a range of complementary approaches, I collaborate with you to strengthen your skills to navigate present-moment distress, explore what’s feeling painful or stuck, and together find ways to help you flourish.

Somatic approaches may be used in conjunction to talk therapy.
My intention is for you to feel safe bringing all parts of yourself into our sessions. All of you - all feelings, all identities - are welcome. Only in a relationship of relative safety & non-judgement can growth happen. I maintain that YOU are the expert on you and as such I take a client-centered, collaborative, and relational approach to therapy. I will use our relationship, my experience, and YOUR insight & self-knowing, as well as appropriate tools & techniques. I will ask about your goals, challenges, strengths, and what has worked for you in the past. Your care will be as individual as you are.

I offer somatic therapy blended with lymphatic drainage massage to provide body-based mental health care for your whole self.
You have a reason for seeking out help - you want a life that works for you, where you can do the things that matter to you and be more fully yourself. Maybe you want to reconnect with your body. Maybe you want to feel safe again, or get more joy in your life. Maybe you're dealing with burnout, stress, or exhaustion. Maybe you have chronic pain or illness, or your executive function hasn't been able to keep up. Maybe you're just looking for ways to survive in a system that wasn't built for you.

In the safety of the psychotherapy space we will use body-based approaches like Somatic Experiencing, Focusing, and EMDR in addition to talk therapy.
Hello, welcome! I hope to help you find a sense of comfort with who you are, identify what kind of life you seek, and help you navigate a path to get there. Maybe you struggle because of you how you present to the world, how you process information, or a trauma you experienced. Maybe you feel stuck and aren't sure why. Whatever brings you to therapy, I will meet you with compassion for your experience, respect for how you got to your current situation, and a certainty that together we can help you make changes, feel better, and create the sort of life you want.

If you have been struggling with a health concern such as pain, insomnia, or GI distress, you may feel demoralized by the limitations of medical treatments for many health issues. You may not know that psychotherapy is an effective treatment for a number of medical conditions. As a clinical health psychologist, I specialize in chronic illness, chronic pain, disorders of brain-gut interaction (DGBIs), health anxiety, insomnia, and stress related to navigating the health care system. Therapy can help you to quiet the brain’s natural threat response to symptoms, foster resilience, and embrace life once again.

As a highly sensitive (HSP) therapist, I hope to broaden the notion of how therapy can look and feel. In session, I seek to provide a safe, warm, nonjudgmental space where you can come and be seen and valued for who you really are regardless of what has happened to you in your life. My style adapts to your needs in the moment and varies from deeply focused and engaged to gently supportive to ridiculous and playful. Just as in life, I feel that therapy can be enhanced by a certain amount of levity, so I tend to incorporate art, movement, play, humor and profanity to facilitate communication of the full range of emotions.

Many of us have trouble making decisions or deepening relationships, because we learned to connect with others needs above our own. While this was adaptive, it can lead to disappointment and resentment. I work with individuals and couples stuck in this cycle. Since change doesn't occur spontaneously, time is dedicated to your patterns and how they are impacting your relationships both positively & negatively.

As a Queer therapist and spiritual companion, I like to do things a little differently. At this time in my career, I’m mostly working with beloved humans who are bravely journeying through deconstructing their religion of origin and are wanting to explore a spirituality beyond religion. I’m doing this because it was part of my story and was a life-altering transformation I wrestled on my own. The good news for me was coming out the other side as my truest self, and with a new expansive spirituality that feeds my seeker-soul and fills me with awe and wonder (without the rules and guilt/shame). You belong here. IFS-informed.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
