I have a relationship-driven approach to helping clients live happier, more fulfilling lives. I rely mainly on psychodynamic, humanistic and existential perspectives. I have experience helping clients process grief, loss and trauma; strengthen relationships; set boundaries; and achieve general life satisfaction. I work primarily with adult individuals, couples, families and groups. My work with couples is informed by training in the Gottman Method and Imago. For couples in which one partner is leaning out, considering divorce but not completely sure it's the best path, I offer Discernment Counseling.

I utilize IFS (parts work), cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and expressive arts; and if desired, I address spiritual or existential issues.
Have you reached your breaking point and wondered if a change is possible? I am a licensed therapist who can help you restore hope. My clients receive unwavering support and tools to transcend challenging emotions, see new perspectives, and work through debilitating symptoms of depression, anxiety, and the emotionally pervasive effects of trauma. I strive to build a trusting and empathic relationship with my clients as we delve into complex issues. I firmly believe that transformation is possible after exploring the past and present strongholds that hinder the ability to lead a more fulfilled life.

I am currently accepting clients for in-person and online therapy. I believe people enter psychotherapy because the ways they have been managing their pain are no longer working, they have become disconnected from their true sense of self, and no longer feel authentic. My goal is to help you to claim a deeper level of self-understanding, genuine intimacy with others, and a sense of purpose and agency in life. Change can be difficult, simply because we fear the unknown. A relationship with a therapist can provide a place of acceptance and safety from which to explore new ways of thinking and behaving.

Please note - I am only accepting clients who are age 13+. I am an art therapist and counselor, and my specialties are complex-PTSD, PTSD, DID, and neurodevelomental disorders. Life changes after trauma. Childhood trauma can set us up to have difficult relationships and a weakened identity. Navigating the world can feel uncertain. Safety may be elusive or non-existent. The wonderful news is that therapy works. In terms of individuals with nuerodevelopmental disorders, I particularly specialize in individuals with a co-occurring psychotic disorder.

The hardest part of overcoming a challenge is knowing where to start. In counseling, we can discover together what is getting in the way of living your best life. Whether you're struggling to manage emotions (e.g. anxiety, sadness), keep up with work/school, master your relationship with technology, or navigate recent life transitions, it can feel overwhelming at times to go it alone! I will work with you to identify your "stuck points", collaboratively create a plan to address the areas you want to work on, and support you in replacing approaches that don't work with ones that do. Change is hard but worth the effort!

Are you feeling frustrated, lonely, overwhelmed, or depressed? Does it seem like there must be more to life than what you are getting? Sometimes we just feel stuck in our lives. Old emotional wounds or patterns keep nagging at us, keeping us from feeling free to live authentically. Relationships can be one the most rewarding or distressing parts of our lives. Changing the way we relate to ourselves and to others is key. Therapy is a transformative process that can help us address our concerns about ourselves and others.

The key to successful therapy is a relationship with a caring, nonjudgmental therapist there to respond sensitively and patiently to whatever comes up. In my work, I offer that to my clients, as we collaborate in developing an understanding of your emotional states and how they drive your thoughts and actions. We’ll learn together what you need to strengthen and grow. My work with children and adolescents informs my understanding of development over the life span, and how those relationships and experiences that shape us are alive in the present moment.

I am a psychodynamically-trained, interpersonally-oriented, and existentially curious practitioner. The therapy that I practice is relational in nature — I aim to work both through the lens of relationships and in relationship with patients. I am of the belief that what arises through therapeutic process is equally as important as the therapeutic outcomes.

Providing Services for Residents of MD, NJ, PA! Eager to feel like yourself again after pregnancy? Want to live a more meaningful, productive, and healthy life? My specialty is helping individuals and couples adjust to life transitions, especially maternal mental health related to pregnancy, postpartum, infertility, and child loss. Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
