I am certified in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical-Behavior Therapy ( DBT).
Welcome! My name is Naomi and I specialize in working with adults 18+ who suffer from anxiety, depression, trauma, complicated grief, addiction, and/or personality disorders. It’s also okay to come to therapy when you’re not sure what you’re looking for but just want to get started on the road to feeling better. I believe all people have the inner wisdom to cope effectively and that some just need help tapping into it. I keep it real with my clients competently and compassionately. I meet people where they are using empathy, humor, and 10 years of clinical experience.

Through Christian based counseling, ACT and DBT, I help clients work through life changes, grief, communication, anxiety, trauma, depression, stress management and much more.
Going through life changes can be hard and sometimes out of our control. Changes can be positive and negatives but the adjustment can still be hard and sometimes stressful. Or maybe you are struggling with the concerns of life and are currently going through a hard time. Maybe you are a couple that struggle with communication and expressing your needs to each other. Or you maybe someone who experienced trauma and are struggling to work through the thoughts and feelings associated with it.

I utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT) to encourage folks to learn specific skills to help them flourish in their relationships, regulate their emotions, and become badasses in all areas of their lives.
Are you having difficulty functioning in your relationships? Feeling "anxious" or as if you have to walk on eggshells around those you love out of fear of losing them? Everyday experiences of my clients include pushing aside their needs for others' needs, noticing their "toxic" relationships though being unable to set boundaries, feeling burnt out from overworking or people-pleasing behaviors but being unable to help themselves change. Usually, when clients come to me, it isn't "their first rodeo" when it comes to therapy, and they are tired of re-hashing their past to a therapist who sits and nods their heads.

David is a queer, neurodivergent Jewish dude who wants to do nothing more than leave the world a better place than when he came into it. David believes in a humanistic approach to therapy, which means that much of what you focus on in the therapy room is what you find to be personally affecting you. He has training in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy, amongst others, which he uses to build a framework in order to help set goals, but ultimately the approach used will be based on what you vibe the most with.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
