I draw from psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and narrative therapies to adapt tools and techniques to each individual.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in Maryland and work with individuals in their late teens through all stages of adulthood. I have experience helping people who live with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and developmental disabilities. As an intern at Sound Behavioral Health in Seattle and Johns Hopkins Community Psychiatry Program, I provided individual and group psychotherapy to diverse populations virtually and in-person. My past volunteer experience includes counseling people on a suicide hotline and giving emotional support to people on the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) helpline.

I work from a CBT, REBT, and narrative perspective.
Transitioning through new stages of life like; college, entering the workforce, and adulthood are filled with stress, doubt, and lots of questions. Sometimes we get overwhelmed by the weight of it all and need a little support along the way. Therapy is a safe space to explore what is getting in the way of you being the healthiest and strongest version of yourself. I believe that all people have the capacity for effective change and honest self-love.

Utilizing a strength-based focus, I integrate techniques from various theories and modalities such as: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness, attachment and narrative therapy.
Finding a good therapist is like shopping for a good pair of shoes. Why, you might ask. It’s all about the fit. You usually choose shoes that are most comfortable and suit you best. Whether you may have gone to a therapist before or have never been – whether you had awful experiences in the past or none at all. Successful therapy is about finding the right fit; about finding a relationship where you have a safe space to bring any and all of your feelings and challenges.

I use an eclectic, person-centered approach that includes: Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy.
Have you ever wondered, "How did I get here?" Life has a way of taking twists and turns. Within each of us lies a story; one we tell ourselves and live out, whether it serves our highest good or not. But your past does not have to dictate your future. New chapters are still being written. During our work together, you will create a new story that will be one that is big enough to contain all your strengths, hopes, challenges, and all that makes you unique. From following big dreams to winning everyday small victories, I am committed to helping you succeed and feel more alive!

As a practitioner of Internal Family Systems therapy, I help clients identify and release core beliefs that cause anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger, guilt, perfectionism, and/or addiction. I strongly believe that our pasts influence our present. The lens through which we interpret ourselves, other people, and the world around us is developed in childhood and sometimes needs adjustment as we evolve throughout the lifespan. With IFS therapy, we will uncover and challenge the lessons you learned as children that keep you feeling stuck, scared, sad, and not good enough.

I am so glad that you are here. Taking the steps toward healing is no easy task, so if no one has said it, I am so proud of you. Society spends so much time trying to tell us who we are and what we need to be that sometimes we forget who we are and what we are worth. The hardest part of the therapeutic process is showing up. Healing can be complicated and scary at times. However, through this process, I hope you discover all the beautiful qualities that make you exceptional.

Holding safe spaces for people to get to know, like, and love themselves in new ways is what we do. We mirror to you your humanity and help you to safely see the parts of SELF or LIFE you may feel trapped within. We created this holistic healing space for folks who are exhausted or misaligned, recovering perfectionists who need to slow down in their fast-moving lives, working moms who are tired of "just managing" and are ready to fully embrace life. Our passion is holding space for the "strong friends" and care-takers of our communities. You are deserving of pouring into yourself. You can't pour from an empty cup.

*ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS* You are making the first step in improving your quality of life. Knowing that you are safe and supported is one of the best predictors of successful therapy. I know that deciding to seek therapy demonstrates an act of humility and self-love. I work from a tailored team-oriented approach with my clients to assist them in recognizing their true potentials and inner strength, which enables them to feel empowered and allow them to build on those elements to find their own path forward. As such, I utilize an intersectional framework to honor and affirm how your identities impact the way you navigate the world.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
