"I need help!" are such simple words, yet the most difficult thing for us to ask for. Why do we succumb to the "I'm a terrible person, parent, partner," and other self-loathing tapes that play repeatedly in our minds? Through our work together, I'm hopeful that peace and balance can be readily experienced. For over 15 years, I've partnered with many individuals and families to resolve the chaos that consumes our lives. Through our partnership, we'll create an individual treatment plan to meet your personal or family's goals. Call me today to start this exciting new journey.

I believe that while no life is without some measure of pain or struggle; therapy can be a transformative, healing process which opens the door to a more fulfilling relationship with yourself and others. I provide individual and couples' counseling to young adults and adults. I am Level III certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and have training in other models of trauma therapy. I believe in both somatic and non-somatice resources for healing however I encourage clients to explore how their symptoms manifest through their physical body and relationships with others.

As a therapeutic sherpa, I am in the practice of creating a safe nonjudgmental space offering authenticity and empathy with the intention of empowering you on your journey. Psychotherapy is a form of deep play because of its inherent supported risks and its exhilarating rewards. Influenced by mythologist Joseph Campbell's heroic cycle, I utilize eclectic and integrative tools to facilitate your healing quest. Specializing in relational issues, addiction, trauma, grief, anxiety and depression, my clinical practice kit is informed by person-centered Rogerian therapy, psychodynamic theory, equine assisted modalities, family systems theory, bibliotherapy, gestalt and somatic psychology.

Through the use of active imagination, sandplay, dream analysis, expressive arts, journaling, and exploration of personal meaning we will work towards improved life balance and integration.
Welcome- I’m glad you have arrived. My dream for creating this practice was to offer you a unique and warm experience where you can relax into their therapy process. Unlike traditional therapy spaces, I utilize my home as a temenos- an enclosed, sacred space, where you belong and are welcomed. I am experienced in working with adults and children, though my areas of clinical interest are in addressing trauma, attachment, and creative/artistic blocks, and life transitions.

I began my career working as a school based clinician working with children and adolescents. After gaining an understanding of each client's needs, I guide and support them in implementing the changes necessary to improve peer and family relationships, emotional health, and overall quality of life at home and at school. By selecting and tailoring the appropriate therapeutic approach, the client is encouraged to work towards achieving their personal goals for healing, growth and wellness. These approaches may involve therapeutic play (for younger children and adolescents) as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Our early life experiences play a profound role in so many aspects of life, including our relationships, self-image, and beliefs about the world. Our foundations have the potential to provide us the strengths and skills to navigate life's challenges. Sometimes, adverse childhood experiences such as trauma can cause us to feel distant from ourselves, our intuition, and our purpose. Therapy can be a powerful tool to explore parts harmed by trauma and to integrate them into one's healing journey. My clinical practice is deeply aligned with my values of inclusivity, anti-racism, and identity-affirming care for all people.

Emotional Pain. It is something we've all experienced. However, we often tend to sidestep and ignore it instead of confronting and embracing it. This leads to stress, anxiety, and low self-esteem. I work with my clients to become comfortable with feeling the pain of their past and present in a safe and healthy environment, enabling them to live a more wholesome lifestyle.

Sandplay Therapists

What problems are best treated with sandplay therapy?

Research has examined this therapy’s utility in young people and found positive results. It has been shown to be useful for those who suffer from autism, attention deficit disorder, anxiety, and or aggressive behavior. Children who have suffered abuse, neglect, or trauma have also seen improvement through this therapy. Abused children are often fearful and anxious about their safety, making verbal communication more difficult.

Is sandplay therapy suitable for children and teenagers?

Children and adolescents are good candidates for sandplay therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts, let alone the emotions they are experiencing. Through this play therapy, they will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Is sandplay suitable for adults?

This type of therapy can be useful for adults who have difficulties expressing themselves. People who have suffered neurological changes after a brain injury or because of a traumatic event might be good candidates for this therapy. In fact, anything that has had an effect on the brain, such as substance abuse, can make non-verbal sandplay a valuable option.

Does sandplay therapy work?

There have been studies on the effectiveness of sandplay therapy, and it appears to improve difficult behaviors in children. It may also enhance self-esteem and lessen feelings of physical anxiety as well as hypersensitivity. This type of therapy is based on non-verbal communication and may feel less threatening to the individual.
