I specialize in mindfulness and loving kindness and in grief and loss.
We all possess natural wisdom and the inherent capacity for health and healing. By engaging in mindfulness and loving kindness practices and principles we can take an honest look at ourselves, cultivate gentleness and compassion and work more skillfully with the make-up that we have. With this as our foundation we can realize that times of difficulty and struggle are also opportunities for tremendous growth and discovery.

With over a decade of experience, I am dedicated to counseling individuals facing chronic illness, grief, trauma, and caregiver challenges.
A medical diagnosis can feel like the ground has shifted beneath you, leaving you overwhelmed by the stark change in your life. This journey often brings new responsibilities, such as coordinating medical appointments and finding the strength to advocate for yourself in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The anxiety of waiting for test results can be all-consuming, and it’s common to struggle with racing thoughts and endless “what if” scenarios. If you’re navigating these challenges, know that you’re not alone, and support is available to help you through this difficult transition.

I work with women and men who are experiencing struggles in marriage, divorce, parenting, stress-management, dating, grief and workplace conflict.
Are you anxious in relationships? Do you fear disapproval and/or lack motivation? I get it! I enjoy facilitating client change by first identifying the fixed thoughts and assumptions that interfere with fulfillment. Life is challenging, and what we say to ourselves can make coping difficult. Childhood experiences powerfully impact our self-statements, so you won't leave our sessions without exploring your youth - - who loved you, who didn't, and how you now cope and react. Finding personal meaning is also so important! My approaches are tailored to meet the unique needs of the individual or couple, as collaboration is essential.

I am equipped to work with clients on their specific issues, either temporary or chronic. Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
