I started 911 Help For Parents & Relationships after many years of working with children, adolescents, and families. I discovered that not only were the children struggling, but so were their parents. I sought out more training to develop a specialty in Parenting Coaching, and later Relationship Coaching. In addition, I now have a special expertise and interest in Infidelity Recovery as many of the individuals, families, and couples I've worked with have been affected by this complex and little-understood issue.

As an experienced psychotherapist, I believe in integrating various therapeutic approaches that will allow a person to restructure their thoughts and behaviors through practical cognitive principles. My therapeutic approach is based upon the “whole person concept”, considering the importance of individual, cultural, family, and communal variables within the lives of clients seeking therapy. Therapy is not a "one-size-fits-all" journey, and it can be a challenge to overcome the societal stigmas associated with seeking mental health treatment.

Life can be challenging and leave us feeling overwhelmed. Maybe an important relationship just ended (or needs to end) and you are limping through life. Or maybe you lost your job, your health, or your sense of direction in life, leaving you feeling anxious, unsafe, and lacking control. When you go through difficulties, it’s important to have a safe space to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment or shame. You need someone who believes that healing and growth are possible for everyone—no matter what they’ve been through—and who has the tools and training to help you get back to a place of wholeness.

I wear many hats in life, and many people in my personal life rely on me. Many of my family and friends view me as a comforter. Though this may be admirable, I teach everyone to be self-sufficient, including my clients. My passion allows me to be available for my life calling of servicing women and families. I do this effortlessly. I understand many aspects of womanhood because my experiences have taught me what it is like to be a single mother, working mother, and now married with bonus children. I love my family, and I love working with women and families. There isn't a women's challenge or trauma that I have not helped.

For my Mental Health Clinicians. It's time to prioritize your mental health and well-being. I know first hand, the challenges of pouring into yourself when you are used to pouring into others, however you deserve the same level of care and compassion that you selflessly offer to others. In our relentless pursuit of aiding others, we often neglect our own well-being, struggling silently with the weight of our responsibilities. As a therapist specializing in serving other clinicians, I offer a safe space for healing, where you can unpack your burdens, process your emotions, and rejuvenate your spirit.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
