My ideal client would be a mom or wife, an individual who does not have any coping skills and blames themselves for things that are out of their control, such as anxiety, depression, unstable mood, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, lack of motivation, & no insight in their situation. Their needs would be support, empathy, understanding, and active listening. They have goals to work on themselves, improve communication skills, increase coping skills, and alleviate anxiety and depressive symptoms. The client would want to change and work on themselves to become better and stronger individuals for themselves & their families.

My ideal client may need help with confidence, relationships, or learning who they are. They aim to reduce symptoms of clinical diagnoses and work with me to see progress in their lives. This client would want to learn more about themselves and improve their relationships with others and with themselves. They would be a motivated and insightful client who attends sessions regularly and comes prepared with topics to discuss. I would help this client by listening to them and their thoughts, offering support, and building a rapport with them.

As we travel through this journey of life, getting past challenges can be a difficult process. At times, we may need the guidance and support of a skilled professional. I have over 10 years of experience providing clinical counseling in mental health facilities, school settings, and private practice. Currently, I provide teletherapy via a HIPAA compliant platform to help clients take the steps to better manage life’s challenges. Yogi Berra was on to something when he said "“Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical." The only thing is, baseball is not the only sport that is impacted by the mental side of the game. In fact the mental component is important in anything related to performance; sports, public speaking, music, emergency-work, military, etc. As a mental performance coach, I help client's with topics including, but not limited to: confidence, anxiety, injury and return to play, stress management, communication, recruiting, relationship dynamics, relaxation, focus, and performing under pressure

Initially in sports medicine and now through talk and experiential therapy.
The truth about recovery is that it's a process. Just like life itself. It's forever changing and moving forward. Healing never has to stop. There is always more we can recover and grow from, becoming more whole along the way. Recovery is a form of discovery. Recovering parts of ourselves that had been cut off means they are finally revealed to us, and we discover something new about ourselves. We discover that we are greater than we were before. More aware of our inner strength and resources, we become empowered. I hope that you discover true healing and what recovery can be: Internal peace and serenity can happen.

My favorite part of being a therapist is to witness the client’s process whether it be art-making or talk therapy. I value process over product, simply meaning that being present in the moment is the work, not the finished art product or “homework”. I enjoy helping others reach their goals and I love to use art as a way to explore, learn and heal. I look forward to working with you!

Sports Performance Therapists

How does sports psychology work?

Sports psychology helps athletes identify and overcome challenges, such as perfectionism or a fear of failure, and improve key mental skills, such as confidence or concentration. By applying principles and techniques from psychology, such as goal-setting, visualization, positive self-talk, and emotion regulation, sports psychologists help athletes improve their performance on the field and their well-being overall.

How long does treatment for a sports-related problem take?

The duration of sports psychology treatment depends on the athlete’s individual challenges, goals, the complexity of the interventions used, and even on the length of the season. A performance anxiety issue may be treated with a short-term treatment, like Cognitive behavioural therapy, while issues such as depression, substance abuse, or severe anxiety may require longer-term treatments.

How effective is treatment for sports performance problems?

Sports psychology has been shown to improve performance and help athletes manage their emotions. Sports psychology can be effective in boosting performance, team dynamics, and injury rehabilitation. Over the past decade, nearly every professional sports team in every major sport has added a sports psychologist to its staff. Many colleges have done the same, and even some high school programs have done the same. Olympic hopefuls may consult with sports psychologists starting in elementary school.

What are the limitations of sports psychology?

Sports psychology may have several limitations. Every athlete is unique and may respond differently to sports psychology treatments. Therapy can help an athlete reach their potential; it can help athletes cope with injury and pain, but it cannot change the physical limitations that may be affecting an athlete’s performance.
