Bessel van der Kolk once wrote that “trauma is not just an event that took place sometime in the past; it is also the imprint left by that experience on the mind, brain, and body. This imprint has ongoing consequences for how the human organism manages to survive in the present.” I have come to have enormous respect for the wide range of defense mechanisms each of us creates to help us survive trauma and problematic fits with our environment. I enjoy helping others to understand and cultivate compassion towards these parts of ourselves and to build new, more adaptive ways of coping and ultimately thriving.

AIM Wellness provides therapy, medication management, injection administration, and case management. Our clinical team works with individuals with a wide array of mental health diagnosis. The team specializes in depression, anxiety, mood disorders, psychosis, personality disorders, among other disorders, and co-occurring medical illnesses as well. Our clinical team works together, along with the client to create individualized treatment plans.

Things have a way of not working out the way they we thought they would. The stories of our lives begin in the families we are given with all of their foibles and experiences. Pages that become chapters of pain, trauma or loss can engulf the one that feels trapped in the narrative. After a plot twist of epic proportions, I left a 16-year career in the intelligence community and began a new chapter. I’ve had to confront the sources, rewrite the narrative, consult the author and find myself in the pages. The refinement process can be a horrific one but in the truth, freedom is found. Together, we can find healing.

I have over fifteen years of work helping individuals manage depression, anxiety, regulation of emotions, impulsive behaviors and processing traumatic events. I am a seasoned therapist in the helping profession and have helped children, families and couples.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. I have worked with a wide range of clients including children, pre-teens, adolescents, adults, couples, families, LGBT and trauma victims. My philosophy centers on empowering clients to discover the most effective tools that lead to alleviation of symptoms and resolution of life challenges.

I am a psychotherapist with clinical and academic training in social work and women’s and gender studies. My work stems from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and critical social work perspective, and centers on collective relationship building. My approach to therapy is relational at its core and recognizes our need for connectivity with other beings, with ourselves, and with our environments. I have a warm and eclectic approach to therapy and use various methods to help support my clients. I am also currently enrolled in EMDR Basic Training with Deany Laliotis of the Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy.

Ideally, I'd treat clients with a trauma history. Someone with a mixture of short and long term trauma. My ideal client is eager to learn and wants to find a way to become their own safe space. Someone who wants to learn how to set and maintain healthy boundaries, find out their triggers, and treat themselves with patience.

I am currently working with adolescents, young adults & families facing the challenges of life such as changes in family dynamics, a challenging parent-child relationship, as well as anxiety, depression, school stress & life transitions.

Gaining insight, awareness, motivation, and tools to improve well being are my primary focus. This can be a difficult process but it can also be an enjoyable one.
