My name is Diane Brumfield and I am a psychotherapist and owner of Crystal Waters Counseling Centers, LLC in Columbia, Maryland. I am a licensed clinical professional counselor and a nationally certified school counselor with over 20 years of experience. I provide counseling for adults, children, adolescents, and families. Throughout my career, I have worked in private practice and school settings providing individual, group and family therapy. I also offer educational consulting services for families in need of assistance through the IEP process or are in need of behavioral and academic support from their school system.

I am a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) with over 20 years professional experience, over 15 of which have been in private practice. I provide counseling for adults, children, adolescents, and families. In the past I worked at Villa Maria after School Program where I provided individual, group, and family therapy. I have attended school meetings, knowledgeable with IEP process and school behavioral management.

I am a licensed clinical social worker and a graduate of the University of Maryland with more than 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, oppositional defiance, and parenting issues.

I work with individuals and families with difficulties ranging from mood disorders to relationship issues. My treatment background includes work with individuals with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, trauma, substance abuse and family and relationship problems. The most important component to therapy is a good therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist. I offer a free inititial consultation to identify your needs and make sure that I am the right therapist for you.

Leah helps adults who are anxious, depressed, stressed, have low self-esteem, are having difficulty adjusting, are having trouble maintaining healthy relationships, and have other counseling needs by taking a proactive and client-centered approach to therapy.

I have been practicing in the field for 4 years and am continuing to grow and evolve. My ideal client is someone motivated for change and understanding of self. I primarily work with clients (16 years old+) who are high schoolers, college-aged, and young adults trying to navigate the world. I am currently a doctoral student in Counseling, Education and Supervision and am always learning new treatment interventions through an anti-oppressive lens. I greatly enjoy helping people understand and manage their symptoms related to anxiety, uncertainty, imposter syndrome, motivation and identity.

Life often feels messy and complicated and we can get stuck in the same thought patterns, interpersonal conflicts, or ways of seeing the world that keep us from living as our best selves. My goal is to support clients in managing their stressors and building skills to show up in the world that feels authentic to them. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe space for clients to do the work of finding their own voice, processing through their struggles and issues, identifying and using coping skills, and showing up in relationships in an authentic way.

Most of my experience has been with Women’s Issues, Sexual Abuse Survivors, Trauma, Anxiety and Domestic Violence utilizing primarily a trauma-informed and solution-focused clinical perspective. I believe it is important for me to have a collaborative professional relationship with each client so that we can collectively meet the client's needs.

For over 30 years, I have worked with trauma recovery. My clients have included foster and delinquent youth, persons facing criminal charges, abuse victims of various types (abandonment, physical, emotional, sexual, and sexual), and persons facing life changing and life altering circumstances (divorce, marriage, job changes, and other changes in their circumstances). My work is client centered, evidence based, and spiritually grounded. I incorporate expressive and art therapies along with therapeutic recreational strategies in the work. Therapy is a growth enhancing experience for both of us. I look forward to offering you the best in me, and learning about the best in you.
