Trauma leaves you feeling broken, damaged, and disconnected from yourself and your loved ones. Deep down you are struggling to manage your intense emotions. You tear yourself apart when you mess up. You may feel shameful and guilty with no space left for joy. You know when you try to relax all the thoughts and memories come rushing in. Some nights it might feel like there’s a DVD playing your most painful memories and it feels unsafe. You want to hide and can’t trust anyone. You judge yourself. You see the world around you is handling things much better than you. You ask yourself “Why can't I be normal, why can’t I get over it".

Together, in a therapeutic setting, I believe that by gaining increased awareness of our experiences and how we interpret the world, we can reduce suffering and find healing. Therapy is more than a specific modality; it is a space to engage in a meaningful relationship. Through connection and understanding, we can experience true transformation. Often, in ways we are not always aware of, our pain is linked to the hurt we experienced as children. Imagine waking up everyday and genuinely feeling good about yourself, your life, your choices and your future. Although you may not feel this way right now - I promise you, it is 100% attainable. As a clinical social worker with a concentration on mental health and substance use disorder, I often work with people who have been caught up in the grips of despair and sometimes the horrors of addiction. It has been a blessing to witness the transformation that occurs when someone is ready to surrender and begin to heal.
