I have been honored to serve clients suffering from a variety of mental health illness. I am passionate about helping those who suffered from abuse and trauma to find healing and begin to live their best lives. However, I have many years serving those who suffer with co-occurring disorders. Many of my clients suffered with depression, bi-polar, schizophrenia and anxiety disorders.

Rapport is critical for the therapeutic setting; without a positive connection, therapy is a difficult road. Therapists should provide a meaningful experience, which includes a safe place to share. I believe I need to provide a nonjudgmental environment to help healing. My role as a therapist is working with clients to improve their insight, identify triggers, manage life’s dilemmas and help them manage their symptoms. The goal is to help clients identify what is needed, be it, love, joy, peace, self-control, self-image and/or happiness, I meet my clients "right where they are" w/o judgment, but with clinical insight & experience.

Are you someone with high functioning anxiety or depression? OCD or ADD/ADHD? Maybe that pesky inner critic won't be quiet, or you hyperfocus on mistakes. Trouble setting boundaries or saying no, asking for help? Do you get easily overwhelmed by others' emotions or your environment? Maybe people say you are too sensitive. You can learn to recognize and label these patterns with time, practice, and kindness to yourself.

Plus, we offer support between sessions through direct messaging and a community of peers with OCD, ensuring you never feel alone.
From a young age, personal experiences have called me to help people. I've always been passionate about seeing individuals overcome challenges and reach a point where they can say, "I feel better." In my family, I've witnessed the effects of bipolar disorder and major depression, and how they can impact a person and their entire support network. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career in mental health. At NOCD, my team and I specialize in providing evidence-based treatment for OCD. I decided to specialize in OCD because of personal experience with friends and loved ones. Growing up, I suffered from undiagnosed anxiety. For a time, I had intrusive thoughts that I had to overcome myself because there was a lack of awareness from my parents and community. That influenced me to enter this specialization. I want to fill the cultural barrier others may face when seeking OCD diagnosis and treatment. At NOCD, my team and I provide personalized and effective specialized treatment for OCD and related conditions, such as BFRBs (including skin-picking, nail-biting, and hair-pulling).

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
