I use a trauma-informed approach and have training in several therapeutic models including acceptance and commitment therapy, solution focused therapy, attachment-based therapy, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
With the demands life makes on us, sometimes it becomes too much. The same way we go to the doctor for physical ailments, sometimes we need assistance managing our mental and emotional wellbeing. Do you need support as you balance the many roles you have in your life? Have you noticed your physical health being impacted by the stress? Maybe you've had huge milestones or life events happen and are having a hard time adjusting? Or maybe you've been hearing buzz phrases like 'self care' and are wondering what that looks like beyond home spa days?

You are so brave for stepping up to the plate to improve your life; to attain greater balance, achieve your goals, enhance your self-assurance, learn your strengths, and to feel empowered to live fully! I love working with adults who struggle with trying to manage it all. Between work, parenting, relationships, socializing with friends, and maintaining a meaningful spiritual life, many adults are just plain exhausted. You desire to feel greater peace with it all and to start enjoying life again. I see you and I hear you, and I cannot wait for us to work together so you can discover your needs and finally meet your goals.

Effective 10/13/24 - I have immediate openings and I am in-network with several insurance companies... Much of my experience has involved helping adolescents and adults transition to a new stage of life when old habits are no longer working and new skills are needed to live a more satisfying life. This could involve improving how the person handles anxiety or depression, moving beyond a substance use problem, adjusting to the stress of a new life challenge, or improving how things are going at work, at school, or in a relationship.

Let's be honest. Most of us have something that we could use additional help navigating. I'm passionate about providing support to teens and adults looking to gain awareness, understanding, and skills to manage life changes, interpersonal relationships, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, grief, and PTSD. My clients describe wanting to see sustainable change in their lives and are open to challenging their beliefs and disrupting current behavioral patterns to achieve that change. Additionally, I have a special interest in working with populations who are marginalized including racial/ethnic, sexual, and gender minorities.

Starting with a new therapist can be a daunting experience for those who have never done it before and even for those who have. Finding the right therapist that you connect with and can build a great relationship with is key to not only making a change, but also to feeling heard and accepted. I do my best to ensure clients feel comfortable to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe environment without judgment. Taking these first steps can be hard and I seek to make this process easier and less daunting for you. (Not currently accepting insurance for couple's therapy)

I use an eclectic approach that includes a strength-based perspective, solution focused approaches, and cognitive behavioral techniques during your journey to meet the goals you have waited so long to achieve.
You are reading this for a reason. It is time to take responsibility for your mental health and find your Joy! Life is full of challenges; yet having the tools to face life's challenges is not innate- this is something that we all need to learn and practice. I have spent my entire adult life learning, practicing and teaching others the skills needed to tackle life's challenges with confidence and positivity. Helping others gain the skills to face the hard stuff with new energy and confidence is a true honor. I honestly love the work I do.

Solution Focused Brief (SFBT) Therapists

How does solution-focused therapy work?

The treatment works by helping a client notice which behaviors and thoughts have positive results on their lives and building a plan around how to maximise these strengths. Practitioners of solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) believe that individuals already have the experience, wisdom, and resilience to create change in their lives, but may need a guide to help them realise which changes to make and how to make them.

Is solution-focused brief therapy evidence-based?

Yes. Solution-focused brief therapy has been extensively studied, and researchers find strong evidence that it’s an effective treatment for many behavioral and psychological concerns. This may be due to the uplifting nature and practicality of the treatment, which allows patients to employ strategies to reach their goals that are incremental and achievable.

How long does solution-focused brief therapy last?

Solution-focused brief therapy, as the name implies, is brief. The timeline may vary from person to person, given the challenges they face and their situation in life, but treatment is typically complete within four to eight sessions. This therapy type is a pragmatic one: it’s concerned more with “how” problems can be addressed and improved than getting to the root of “why” they exist in the first place.

Is solution-focused brief therapy a type of cognitive behavioral therapy?

Solution-focused brief therapy is related to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)in that both are pragmatic approaches that deal less with gaining a full understanding of the cause of a mental health problem and more with creating plans for how to cope with these problems and improve an individual’s day-to-day life. They are distinct, however, in that SFBT emphasises building on strengths and resources, while CBT focuses on changing negative thoughts and behaviors.
