I utilize an integrative approach in therapy (attachment, interpersonal process, mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and am trained in emotionally-focused couple therapy.
Life comes with various challenges. I believe that we cope with them as best as we can and that genuine and authentic relationship facilitates the healing process. As your psychologist, I will honor your unique contexts (e.g., intersecting identities, family background, interpersonal dynamics), support your strength to improve the quality of life, and help find inner peace and positive transformation. I welcome short-term and long-term therapy that focuses on building psychological and relational resilience. I am an Asian woman psychologist with global perspectives and provide clinical services both in English and Korean.

We will work together utilizing narrative therapy, CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma focused therapy or mindfulness practices to unlock your full potential.
The journey you are on is far greater than the season you are walking through. Adjusting to life in a post pandemic world has left many learning to cope with the unknown; unknown stress, unknown career paths, unknown relationships, unknown trauma, unknown sense of self. Sometimes these unknowns cause increased anxiety, depressive states, low self esteem, stress in relationships and loss of direction. You are capable of embracing your unknowns to build your new life, even if it appears to be far different than you planned. You have the power. We just need to grow it.

I use both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Let's be honest. Most of us have something that we could use additional help navigating. I'm passionate about providing support to teens and adults looking to gain awareness, understanding, and skills to manage life changes, interpersonal relationships, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, grief, and PTSD. My clients describe wanting to see sustainable change in their lives and are open to challenging their beliefs and disrupting current behavioral patterns to achieve that change. Additionally, I have a special interest in working with populations who are marginalized including racial/ethnic, sexual, and gender minorities.

My clinical approach includes aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
Starting with a new therapist can be a daunting experience for those who have never done it before and even for those who have. Finding the right therapist that you connect with and can build a great relationship with is key to not only making a change, but also to feeling heard and accepted. I do my best to ensure clients feel comfortable to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe environment without judgment. Taking these first steps can be hard and I seek to make this process easier and less daunting for you. (Not currently accepting insurance for couple's therapy)

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
