My personality leads me to be constantly humbled & grateful whenever I am chosen as a support for someone who is looking to improve. All people have the ability to pursue personal happiness & sometimes just need a companion during their journey. I provide a safe space to explore life’s hardships & when needed, offer gentle challenges. I’m considered a generalist & can work with a wide variety of mental health concerns & also have a deep understanding of various multicultural factors that might impact the way a person experiences the world. When times seem at their darkest, people’s most brilliant inner qualities shine brightly to me

The stresses of life occasionally take such a toll on us that we need an experienced professional. I have 30 years as a mental health therapist and specialize in trauma, loss, addiction, depression, anxiety and medical trauma. I also work with individuals suffering from the physical issues that often accompany a series of stressful events. I see adults, couples, and adolescents. I find a unique blend of cognitive/behavioral, psychodynamic, mindfulness, bibliotherapy and expressive techniques for each client. I also provide clients with community supports and resources to supplement our work together when appropriate.

Are you having difficulty functioning in your relationships? Feeling "anxious" or as if you have to walk on eggshells around those you love out of fear of losing them? Everyday experiences of my clients include pushing aside their needs for others' needs, noticing their "toxic" relationships though being unable to set boundaries, feeling burnt out from overworking or people-pleasing behaviors but being unable to help themselves change. Usually, when clients come to me, it isn't "their first rodeo" when it comes to therapy, and they are tired of re-hashing their past to a therapist who sits and nods their heads.

I AM NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME. Making the decision to find a therapist is the first of many steps that you will make in the journey of renewal and restoration. This relationship along with evidenced based treatment interventions provide a strong foundation for success. I subscribe to the belief that everything you need to make positive long lasting change is already inside of you.

Sometimes in life you find yourself feeling lost, disoriented and wondering how you got to this challenging place. You may find it difficult to even catch your breath. These feelings may lead to anxiety, depression, and other transition and relationship difficulties. Therapy, in my view, is a refuge from these places - a place to unpack all of your thoughts, be heard, feel understood and learn to breathe again.

I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) clinician with a theoretical perspective towards client's wellness through Solution Focused Approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Existential Therapy.
Many times in life, we can overcome difficult situations by learning about ourselves and how we can approach future struggles differently. However, when we exhaust our coping skills, or past events and memories become too overwhelming, we need help. I am equipped to work with clients on their specific issues, either temporary or chronic. My general approach is to address clients' wellness in the 'body, mind, and spirit dimensions to facilitate their growth and development in life.

Existential Therapists
How does existential therapy work?
Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.
Is existential therapy evidence-based?
Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.
How long does existential therapy last?
The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.
Is existential therapy effective?
According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
