I offer Collaborate School Based Mental Counseling, providing children psychotherapy at their own schools, while collaborating with school counselors professionals, and conducting family and parenting session at the office.
I offer a strength base therapy approach focused on the possibilities for change. I help children, teens, adults and families get unstuck from unproductive patters of relation and practice more productive ways of communication. Being from Venezuela, and raising my own multicultural family, I am passionate by the challenges of meshing cultures to raise emphatic, tolerant and successful children and adolescents. I believe building and maintaining a successful family system requires the art of juggling. I help parents use their own resources to balance their many roles and coach kids and teens through their diverse relationships.

As a therapist & a PEP Parent Educator, I have helped hundreds of parents solve parenting challenges.
Life may be harder than you expected. You may feel stressed, depressed, or anxious. You may be struggling with a decision. Relationships with your family are complex. You may want to improve communication with your partner. Parenting is tough. You may have suffered a loss, & you don't know why it still affects you. You may have put a dream on hold while you attended to family matters, & now you wonder if you are still capable of fulfilling that dream. You may feel you have been given gifts, but you aren't using them to their full potential.

With an inclusive, open and positive approach, I work with families, adults, adolescents, and children, on a wide variety of issues including self-esteem, communication, identity, anxiety, depression, decision-making, relationship problems, mood disorder, life transitions, post-partum, parenting and family issues.
Our connections to one another and the communities we work and play in are foundational to our health and well-being. It is through relationship that we learn about ourselves and how best to be in relationship with others. At times, stress can threaten to overwhelm, priorities can become unclear and uncertainties can mount. We all benefit from a consistent and trusting relationship in which to identify our feelings, thoughts and behaviors, to be supported in our efforts to determine and utilize our own strengths and resources, to build our coping strategies, and begin to create the change we choose to work on in any stage of life

I help stressed and overwhelmed professionals who look like they have it all together on the outside but may have a few things bothering them on the inside. You might be the person who everyone goes to for support and advice, but when you share your concerns, it's not taken as seriously by your family or friends. This may leave you feeling anxious, frustrated, depressed, and isolated despite crushing it at work, as a parent, or when leading at church. Maybe you are a spouse/partner, parent, healthcare provider, or pastor/clergy who has current or past stressors that are weighing you down or leaving you feeling out of sorts.

Every individual exists within a context of roles and relationships - son or daughter, parent, partner, friend, colleague.
One thing is certain in life: things always change. All of us encounter difficult changes, narrow passages that we must navigate: unemployment, relocation, breakups, divorce, illness, bereavement. We also experience good, positive changes. Ironically, these too can be quite stressful. Falling in love, getting married, childbirth, getting a promotion at work, any major accomplishment can precipitate uneasiness and worry. It can be tremendously helpful to have the attention, support and perspective of a thoughtful therapist. Together, we collaborate to get you through these challenges while, at the same time, being curious about the deeper meanings underneath the surface.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
