Imagine feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, or addiction. Your relationships are strained, maybe even nonexistent. You're struggling with sleep, weight issues, or physical health. Deep down, you have dreams and desires, but something always holds you back. You long to feel in control, confident, and at peace with yourself. You want your anxiety to fade away, to break free from addictive patterns, and to heal from past traumas. You're seeking a way to overcome negative thoughts and build fulfilling relationships. You're ready for change – to create a life you don't want to escape from. You know healing is possible.

As an Autistic and neurodivergent queer nonbinary clinician, I am uniquely qualified to work with others in the LGBTQIA community. Together we can unpack historical trauma as well as societal trauma. Clients will learn to safely connect back to our bodies and better manage chronic illnesses. We work together to rediscover joy, connect back to nature, and build healthy relationships. My practice centers decolonization and is poly and kink affirming as well as being HAES and fat positive. I enjoy helping clients build radical self acceptance and love for their bodies.

I whole-heartedly believe in each individual's unique ability to find their true Self, the person they were meant to become. From a centered existence one is better able to make choices that promote health, supportive relationships, and passionate pursuits. At times, one may find what once was easy has become more difficult. One's emotional and perceptual landscape may become unfamiliar, what one allows others to see may not fit with how one really feels, one's path may become less certain. Therapy provides the acceptance and space with which to find oneself, perhaps for the first time.

Throughout life everyone experiences varying degrees of struggle which often feel completely unmanageable when we try to brave it alone. The shame and embarrassment that can be associated with asking for help can be paralyzing and can leave us writhing in pain and feeling alone. When in reality, the ability to recognize the need for support is something that should be celebrated and admired. If you are brave enough to reach out, you deserve a safe space of non judgment, empathy, compassion and understanding where you can sort through your concerns and learn the skills to eventually better manage them on your own.

Every stage of life presents different challenges and obstacles. We can often handle life’s challenges with grace, but sometimes we need help, and that's OK. Sometimes we need help navigating the chaos of life to find the best path forward. I work with children, teens, adults, and families struggling with many issues including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, ADHD, autism, LGBTQ+ issues, behavioral issues, school-related concerns, racial and cultural identity issues, parenting, trauma, divorce, grief, college and career counseling, and compassion fatigue. It would be my honor to support you on your journey to wellbeing.

Feeling like your emotions have you instead of you having emotions? Always criticizing yourself? Snapping at your partner or your kids? Finding yourself people-pleasing? Can’t stop thinking about the bad things that have happened? Trying to ignore your suffering, shoving it down and bottling up the pain until you burst? Welcome. We’re here to help. “But it wasn’t that bad. It’s not trauma.” Whether or not anyone calls it trauma, pain is pain. If something happened that caused you stress or emotional harm, you may benefit from trauma therapy. No matter what happened, you deserve to heal. You deserve happiness.

As we journey through life, we encounter obstacles and challenges through the interactions we have with our family, our friends, and our environment that shape our reactions to the world around us and impact our self-perception. We may be unaware of how these behaviors negatively impact our day to day interactions and functioning that may be hindering our potential, leading to existential crises and feelings of aimlessness and hopelessness.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists

How effective is treatment for insomnia?

The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?

There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?

There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?

Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
