Hi, my name is Maddy! I am a dedicated therapist who quickly learned to love helping clients of all ages/backgrounds feel comfortable in the therapeutic process. As I know therapy can be intimidating, and confusing to some people I pride myself on making my clients feel comfortable every step of the way. I specialize in anxiety, depression, and stress related symptoms through the use of CBT, motivational interviewing and mindfulness techniques as well as many others. I always tell my clients that we work as a team, and learn together as we go.

I am trained in EMDR and Motivational Interviewing to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress.
I am here for those of you feeling lost, overwhelmed, defeated, or unsure how to move forward. Maybe you're feeling anxious or depressed and you've lost touch with the part of you that felt joy or purpose in life. Maybe you experienced a traumatic event and need help processing this and moving forward. Or maybe you're experiencing some big life transitions and you don't feel emotionally prepared to handle them. These are all common human experiences that are worthy of confronting and working through to find peace and satisfaction.

I use various theoretical approaches, including Gestalt, CBT, experiential therapy, motivational interviewing and others.
I work with teenagers and adults with anxiety, depression, school avoidance, self-harm behaviors and OCD. If you like the idea of speaking freely about your thoughts and feelings without being judged, if you like feeling completely accepted for who you are, without having to change anything about yourself, then you’ve come to the right place. Therapy is an opportunity to meet with someone who will accept and support you unconditionally. It’s a space where you can actually learn to stop judging yourself and to let go of thought patterns and beliefs that have been holding you back from experiencing inner peace.

I combine Buddhist philosophy and mindfulness practices with motivational interviewing and existential therapeutic techniques to help my clients tap into their inner strengths.
Substance abuse is not a problem, it's a symptom. Many of us carry a deep pain within, and work to hide it behind substance and behavioral addictions. Often what looks like selfish or harmful behavior is really just a person's best effort at dealing with the pain, frustration, and disconnection they feel every day. As a therapist, my aim is to provide the warmth, stability, and emotional space for you to safely and effectively explore what you need in order to grow into who you know you can be.

My approach is non- judgmental and eclectic, drawing on various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational interviewing and MIndfulness.
I am an exceptional listener, mentor and guide who works with people dealing with depression, mood disorders, anxiety, and addiction. My practice is patient-centered: I am trained in a number of treatment modalities, but they can only be effective if an honest, trusting relationship is forged between me and my patient. Creating that relationship cannot be one-sided; it must be collaborative. My first order of business when meeting a new client is to begin developing trust on both sides. I ask questions. I listen. I offer honest feedback. I keep my mind and heart open.

Motivational Interviewing Therapists
How does motivational interviewing work?
Motivational interviewing aims to uncover a person’s internal motivation to change their life. Toward this end, the therapist listens, empathizes, and collaborates with the client based on their perspective; the therapist doesn’t adhere to a predetermined plan for change or impose their viewpoint on the client. Discovering an individual’s most important reasons for change, and guiding them to achieve those changes, can empower people to shift from ambivalence to action.
Is motivational interviewing evidence-based?
Yes, research shows that motivational interviewing can help treat alcohol and substance use — and in different ways such as reducing drinking, reducing resistance, and increasing the likelihood of staying in treatment. Motivational interviewing has also been shown to help people lose weight, adhere to medication regimens, improve diet for those with Type II diabetes, and improve healthy behaviors in children.
How long does motivational interviewing last?
Motivational interviewing is a short-term therapy that can last just one or two sessions. In some cases, motivational interviewing may be used in conjunction with longer-term therapies, but for most people, motivational interviewing is a brief intervention that aims to help patients understand their personal, specific, and internal reasons for changing their life.
What differentiates motivational interviewing from person-centered therapy?
In person-centered therapy, the individual is in the driver’s seat of the treatment process, creating space for them to trust their instincts and arrive at their own solutions. The two approaches are similar because motivational interviewing is also client-centered; however, person-centered therapy is more open-ended while motivational interviewing is somewhat more structured; the goal is to change, and the therapist helps the client specifically discover their internal motivations to modify their behavior.
