Although my treatment approach is rooted in Adlerian and Wellness Counseling, I leverage strengths-based and mindfulness techniques.
With every twist and turn of life's happenings come the fear of uncertainty, grieving the loss of what once was, and even the excitement of what's to come. I'm here to tell you that your thoughts, feelings, and emotions do not have to be as black and white as the world would try to make them out to be. As a trauma-informed professional, I am passionate about helping clients who seek to heal from their life experiences. Whether you're starting or strengthening your wellness journey, my intentions are to cultivate a safe space for you to redefine a new sense of normalcy on your own terms.

My approach to treatment includes Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Brainspotting, Mindfulness, and Adlerian therapy.
You may find yourself worrying about many different things at once. It may feel as though you are unable to get a hold of the worry, no matter how hard you try. Maybe you continue to perform your daily tasks but feel exhausted and irritated most days. Perhaps your days feel never-ending, and the energy you've once had to enjoy your relationships, hobbies, and interests is non-existent. Maybe you want to feel grounded, focused, and energetic again. You may want to master a work-life balance that allows you to be completely present in your life.

I believe it is important in therapy to provide collaborative efforts to help assist individuals who may be navigating through challenging times and are in need of support. In life there are moments of uncertainty and unpredictability that may yield the need for specific guidance that is unique to the individual or family.

No two people are alike, and I believe that your uniqueness and complexity should be celebrated in the work we do together. I am here to create and hold a space where you can feel safe to lower the emotional walls you may put up against the world and talk about what is REALLY on your mind. I deeply believe in the power of empathy, non-judgement, and (therapeutic!) humor. Together, we can reflect on and explore your unique lived experience to create therapeutic goals that not only assist you in better understanding your present self, but promote changes and growth towards becoming the person you want to be.

Do you find yourself wanting more out of life and relationships? Wanting to feel more understood, connected, alive? We're so often taught that it's not OK to be sad, angry, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied. Shame about these feelings keeps us quiet and alone. True strength is having the courage to show up as our authentic, imperfect self. And only when we let others see us can we experience real connection and live wholeheartedly. Whatever your story, it deserves to be heard. When we share our story in a safe space, it becomes easier to own its painful parts so we can gain freedom through letting go--and find healing, meaning, and joy.

Adlerian Therapists

How does Adlerian psychology work?

In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.

Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?

Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasizes their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.

How long does Adlerian therapy take?

Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.

Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?

There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasizes relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
